| Rated 4 out of 5 : The location was 5 mins walk to Lancaster Gate Tube, 2 mins to Hyde Park and a pleasant 15 minute stroll to Portobello Road / Notting Hill for the saturday market. The hotels public areas were very clean and recently refurbished. The room was small but perfectly formed, very clean with a flatscreen TV. The room also looked recently refurbished and was very comfortable. The buffet style breakfast was excellent. Overall, an excellent base for a trip to London if you can get it for a good price. We would stay here again. Rated 3 out of 5 : Staff friendly and helpful once they understood what we were asking for. Breakfast was plentiful and good but we did not think that Oven Chips, Tinned Mushy Peas and Packaged Fish was the standard for a 3.5 star London Hotel for an evening meal. Also the ice cream I had for desert had been prepared previously and left in the cold store possibly overnight. Try to avoid room service as is very costly. The rooms were good but small for double/twin rooms, bathrooms small but good but bathroom cleanliness could be improved. Staff in the dining room and bar very good and friendly. Would recommend eating out for evening meals and quite a variety of decent restaurants and pubs serving good food in Queensway a short distance to the left of the Hotel along Bayswater Road. Get an "Oyster Card" before travelling to London (easily available on the Internet both from UK and can be posted Internationally), very good value for money and for use on London Underground and Buses and River Buses but don't forget to swipe in and out of the underground. Get a map of bus routes available free from most bus information offices at Railway Stations or Victoria Bus Station. Avoid Cabs (dear)and be careful of the Open Topped Bus Tours as most are very costly, if you get a decent map of Central London you can plan your own tour by bus sitting upstairs. Rated 4 out of 5 : Clean room and bathroom. Very quiet place. Helpful and cheery staff. Very well placed at two blocks from subway station. Heating works very well. Average breakfast, without many options. Rated 4 out of 5 : Very good hotel, great location near to Hyde Park. Visited camden market - recommended. Rated 4.5 out of 5 : All staff very friendly and helpful on desk and in restaurant. Food good. Hotel in great location. Little info given about local attractions, eg we asked re winter wonderland and told couple stalls and places to eat so didn't go, got home and found out it was a large popular xmas event also no leaflets in hotel for local attractions. Room clean and good accommodation but bin wasn't emptied or toilet rolls replaced when room cleaned so we had to ring housekeeping about this and they soon brought us some. Reception and restaurant lovely interior. |
