| A Lawn Guest House Hotel guest gave the stay 5 out of 5 : The Lawns is a Bed & Breakfast in Horley ; it's about 3 miles from Gatwick Airport. Our family stayed there overnight before flying to Florida for 2 weeks. We arrived slightly later than anticipated due to the usual shambles on the M25 ; however we were greeted like old friends by Mr Suhail, who is, in my opinion, a model Bed and Breakfast host. Having completed the forms for being a resident and for our vehicle (we were taking advantage of the Parking available) we were then shown to our room. We had a family room for the four of us (2 adults and 2 teenagers) which was large enough and well equipped with an ensuite bathroom, tea and coffee facilities, and a wide variety of information about the area. In the evening we visited a local restaurant which provided a good variety of food, mainly Spanish and Italian, at a good price ; this restaurant was recommended by Mr Suhail. For those with differing tastes the room had a collection of menus from most of the eateries in Horley and directions on how to get there. Despite the proximity to Gatwick, we had no aircraft noise, as the B&B is not on the flightpath ; we had a good night's sleep. In the morning breakfast was a mixture of either continental or English ; the food was prepared and served by a pleasant young lady whom I presume is Mrs Suhail. There was a wide variety of fruit and cereal on offer ; it was an excellent breakfast. After breakfast we were transported to the Airport by car by another very friendly gentleman. On our return we rang the phone from the bay outside Gatwick South terminal and the transfer vehicle arrived after about 10 minutes ; the gentleman transferred our luggage to our car and returned our key to us. Overall, an excellent experience and we will be using this hotel again. The service throughout was excellent and friendly ; it is difficult to find any downsides at all. The room was cheaper than any hotel in the area, it included breakfast in the cost, and parking was also considerably cheaper than using an Airport Car Park (though there was a special offer on at the time we went). In an attempt to balance the review slightly ; the transfer service is only available at certain times of day - before 9:00 AM you will need to travel by taxi. Despite this, it would still be cheaper than Airport Parking, I suspect. Other than this I can't think of any negatives at all. All in all, highly recommended. Rated 4 out of 5 : We spent one night here after arriving at Gatwick airport in the evening. Upon arrival at the airport, we used the guest house telephone to place a free call to the B&B requesting to be picked up. After about 10 min, a lovely and friendly lady came and picked us up in a comfortable van. The B&B is family run and the staff is very friendly and professional. The room was small and cozy, impeccably clean and well-stocked. Anything you miss like toothbrush or else you can buy at cheap price right at the reception. A large folder was available with the story of the B&B and menus of near-by restaurants. The breakfast was good as well. Only one minus: the mattress in the bed was not very good. Rated 4.7 out of 5 : Friendly and helpful staff, good service, hotel facilities clean and in good order, no problems. Overall: Very enjoyable. Rated 3.5 out of 5 : This accomodation was ok for one night, but not for longer. Its a stoppong off place for the airport and that was what we used it for. |
