| Rated 4 out of 5 : Liked: The staff was excellent. They were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Food offered in the restaurant was good. The location was good; near Hyde Park and tube station. Disliked: Room and general reception area showed wear and tear. Something in the room (#449) set off a histamine (allergic) response in me like I have never had before. I have never had airborne allergies in my life, but spent the day after sleeping in the room sniffling and sneezing constantly. After as we left, my symptoms were gone within a few hours. I suspect some kind of mold could be present that I was sensitive to. My husband did not have a problem. Overall: I can't stress enough how much we appreciated the staff friendliness and helpfulness. Because of my experience with the allergic reaction, however, I may hesitate to stay here again, unless I knew rooms had been refurbished. Rated 4.5 out of 5 : We needed to be in Belgravia for an event but our budget didn't run to hotels in Belgravia - the Elizabeth was close enough being only a 10 minute walk to Sloane Square, but also only a very short walk to Victoria Tube so great location for easily getting around London. Our room was a reasonable size for a central London hotel, I've definitely paid more for a smaller room in higher rated hotels. The hotel was clean but a little bit tired looking, a whole refurbishment was about to start as we left so there should be an improvement there soon. The breakfast, which was included in the price, was more than adequate for us with a good selection, full English was available if wanted at a reasonable cost. The staff were friendly and helpful - even late at night! No negative comments really - I was a bit concerned that the lift sounded as if it was struggling a bit - but I understand the new refurb includes a new lift. Rated 3 out of 5 : It is always difficult to find a 4 person room when travelling with children. It's the second time I go to this hotel, because the price is very good. Yes the rooms are old, yes the elevator is small. It's an old English house. But staff is very friendly, and the beds are clean. The location is really great. You can easily reach Oxford street or Nothing Hill, plus you can walk to the science and nature museum through Hyde park. With the Heathrow express to Paddington station it's only a few minutes walk. There is no tea facility in the room, you need to bring your own stuff. It's continental breakfast was ok. We really enjoyed our stay and the kids loved it. We will go back. Rated 5 out of 5 : Clean hotel, very central staff is very helpful. Lanacaster tibe station is just across the road, and the bust number 94 which is 24hrs stops just infront of the hotel. It also stops at Piccadilly Cirus so what can u ask for. The only missing thing is no coffee facilty in the room so you either take travel kettle with you or else inform reception to get you a coffee. I fully recommend this hotel and will go back for sure. Rated 4 out of 5 : This is very pleasant hotel, with a friendly staff, clean rooms and a great location. It is not the Ritz or the Hilton, but for what we paid, 80 pounds during the week and 140 pounds Saturday night, we were very satisfied. We had a very small tin room that faced the street and we did deal with some noise but not unbearable. The proximity to the Underground and Paddington Station make this a great home base while seeing everything London has to offer. The bar stays open late, breakfast was reasonable and for a small charge included eggs and breakfast meats. We did peek into other rooms as they were being cleaned and some are quite large. We only needed a place to sleep and shower so our small room was just fine. I will gladly return and my 20yr old son plans to go back this summer with his girlfriend. I don't know what summer rates are like, nor can i compare this hotel to others in the area, but we felt we got great off season value in an otherwise very expensive town. We will be back. Rated 5 out of 5 : One night stay. Only 1 minute walk from Lancaster Gate tube station. Excellent links on central line to most areas of London. Hotel staff very welcoming. Evening meal and breakfast were both very good and well presented. Hotel lift a little small but only 4 floors so stairs not too much of a problem. Room warm, clean and reasonably sized. En-suite with shower quite adequate. Bed very comfortable. Throughout, the hotel is quite adequate but could in places receive a bit of tlc as some of the decor looks a little tired. Would not hesitate to book another stay at this hotel. |
