| Rated 5 out of 5: We stay at Marriotts as they offer a decent level of service for a decent price and Regents Park is a great example of this. The room we were given was a huge one on the top floor and had a small balcony & a sofa - the bed was big & comfy with a range of different size & density pillows! Bathroom had shower & bath and is clean & tidy & not too small - something that cannot always be the case. Also there is a fridge in the room, not a minibar other hoteliers should take note as this is a really good thing! Regents Park is near Swiss Cottage tube which is a great location for food & drink as well as being quite an attractive area as its relatively quiet. My only issue was that as I was paying with Bonusbonds I expected the staff to know what they were but alas I needed to sort it out several times with several people even though it was supposed to be noted on my stay information. Rated 5 out of 5: I book a lot of hotels for business purposes and, this being a chain hotel in the center of London, was expecting rude, unhelpful staff, tiny rooms, and the general impression of a hotel which due to cost and location is always fully booked, and therefore doesn't care about providing good customer service. I'm glad to say I was wrong! All of the staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful throughout our two night stay. They had no problem handling our booking and checking-in, despite the fact that we were partly paying using Tesco vouchers. The restaurant staff and concierge were likewise very helpful and friendly. I even noticed the restaurant staff and chef responding to some very specific dietary requests from other guests without it being a problem. The room was massive by London standards, and was mostly spotless (a couple of stains on the chairs and the bathroom chrome could do with a polish!). The bed was very comfortable and even though our bedroom faced the road, there was no traffic noise through the windows. Slight gripe - considering the minimal costs involved, I'd expect a hotel chain like the Marriott to provide televisions with the full range of freeview channels, and free wi-fi to its guests. Breakfasts were fabulous - anything and everything you could want, all regularly refreshed. My particular favourite was the self-serve waffle machine! We didn't eat any evening meals at the hotel, but did use the bar - again, slight gripe, but the range of spirits was very limited, especially considering the variety of guests. However, the bar staff were very friendly, even though our arrival interupted their break! The hotel is very close to a tube station and to a bus stop, and it's within a pleasant stroll of Regent's Park and London Zoo. Compared to similarly priced London hotels such as the Hotel Russell, the Marriott at Regent's Park felt much more value for money. We had a lovely stay and were quite sorry to leave! Rated 4 out of 5: The hotel is located about a 3 min walk from Swiss Cottage tube station (Jubilee Line) and was allocated a quiet room overlooking King Henry's Road. The Double Double room I had was quite nice if a tad on the dated side, as per other reviewers. Beds were very comfortable however and nice customer service touches with a card invitation to have breakfast for the reduced price of ?10.00 or a complimentary drink and ice cream in the bar area. Was very suprised with the ammount of towels in the room especially for a single person. I mean 4 bath sheets, 4 hand towels plus other smaller towels, Is there a need to actually place this many towels in a room especially for single occupancy?? Hotel as very expensive in room wi-fi with I Bahn at ?15.00 per 24 hours but benefits from ample storage space, in room safe, ironing board/iron and minibar. Hotel has a nice fitness/pool area too. The only peeve here was the slamming doors, worse than a Travelodge to be honest so beware any light sleepers or those given a room close to lifts or high traffic areas. Rated 4.5 out of 5: Hotel was great, with easy access to central London, staff were very helpful and polite and everywhere in the hotel was very clean. Children particularly enjoyed the pool. Rated 5 out of 5: Good central location with tube just 10 mins walk away. Hotel accommodation very nice and all meals good. Catered well for children and Leisure Centre was well appointed. Secure parking underground. Prices are London prices ( double G&T ?15 ) but that comes with the turf. |

Rating out of 10: 10 Date stayed: January 2006 review: I had a fantastic 3 night stay at the Regents Park Marriott hotel. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful and did all they could to ensure that our trip was enjoyable. The hotel itself is in a farely good location, with a short walk to the swiss cottage tube station, and local shops. A taxi from the centre of London cost around ?12.00 at rush hour, and there are always plenty of taxis situated in the rank outside the hotel. The room service was reasonably priced, and was delicious as well as quick! The maid-service in the rooms was outstanding. The room i occupied was very tidy and bathroom toiletries, towels, and also bed sheets were replaced every day, no matter what time we left the room. The swimming pool and fitness suite were of a good size, and were always very clean. The hotel was of general good apperance, and the lobby and bar areas were stunning. I had a very nice and comfortable stay at this Marriott and would fully recommend it to anyone looking to stay there. Rating out of 10: 2 Date stayed: October 2005 review: 'Regents Park' Marriott - this hotel is actually in Swiss cottage (don't go out after dark, and if you do - wear a stab vest) and quite a hike from the north end of Regents Park. The taxi fare from the west end back to the hotel will set you back around ?27 (40 euros/$47) plus tip. The hotel itself is next to a busy main road (can be noisy) and is on par with your average Moat House but at twice the price. The buffet breakfast was good but will set you back more than a 16oz rib-eye in an Angus steak house - my daughter was not very hungry one morning but we still had to shell out ?17 for a bowl of cornflakes and an apple. |
