| A happy Marriott Twickenham guest rated the hotel 5 out of 5 and said: This Marriott is new and wonderfully appointed. The staff is extremely friendly and genuinely seems to want to help you with anything necessary. Rooms are huge by London standards and the king beds are super comfortable, equipped with loads of wonderful pillows to sink into. We were on the fifth floor and had a great view of the surrounding area. Unfortunately we didn't have time to stop by the bar, but it looked like a fun place to hang out and is quite a large area. Sadly we only stayed here one night but would definitely book again when visiting the area. It is a very short walk to the train station and the bus literally stops out front which is extremely convenient. Also, for a Saturday night we got an amazing rate on their website (under 100 pounds) so it is very affordable. Great experience! A hotel guest rated the stay as 4 out of 5: As others have noted, this is a very new hotel, and the rooms are in beautiful condition. During my stay I was upgraded to a suite (#351), which was huge by London standards, and very comfortable by any standard, with tons of light and a nice view of the surrounding area. The furniture, bed and other appointments to the room are also very nice. There are a full compliment of high quality products in the bath room. There are very nice towels in the bathroom and high quality pillows and bedding in the bedroom. My room was a very long way from the elevator (furthest) but also extremely quiet. The staff generally tries hard to provide good service (they clearly have been well trained) that exceeds what I experience in other London area hotels. Their efforts seem warm and genuine. But the standard of very high quality hotel service one might expect in the US is not always delivered. For example, I stayed for several nights, and one morning there was no hot water. When I reported it to the front desk, they acknowledged, but did not explain, suggest when there would be hot water, or offer an apology. There is no fitness center in the hotel, but there will be a Virgin branded fitness center sometime soon next door (they are soliciting members). In the meantime the hotel has day passes for a fitness center that is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. That center is big and has plenty of equipment, but is both far enough away, and in a less than totally desirable space, that I wasn't motivated to return to it. There is no business center in the hotel, but the front desk will print files from a flash drive if asked. Like most London hotels, Internet access from the rooms is for a fee, with a day of access set to 15 GBP during my visit, or access for an hour for 6 GBP. There was a strong wireless signal in my room. Because the hotel is connected to the Rugby ground, I think there are very variable numbers of guests in the hotel on various nights, and that may be hard to staff for. Breakfast one morning was attended by me and only one other guest, on another day there were a couple of dozen guests at breakfast. On the day when there were few attendees, the hot food arrived for the breakfast buffet about 20 minutes after the start of the breakfast hour. The area immediately adjacent to the hotel is a residential area. It's about 10 minutes to walk to the train station (rail connections to London Waterloo and Richmond where one can catch the Tube) and to the Southwest of London. It's another couple of minutes to get to the majority of nearby restaurants, pubs and shops. I'd stay here again if I had business in the immediate area, for an event at the rugby ground, or if they had a very attractive rate. |
