| A Melia White House hotel guest gave the hotel 4 out of 5 and said: l very much wanted to return to the Melia White House, where l first stayed in the summer of 69. Gone is the oft renovated Coffee shop, Breakfast room, Portuguese staff with their eager conversation in the Coffee Shop, lrish staff on the ground floor, who were there for many years. l can remember the heat sensitive buttons, pressed to summon the lifts - the first l'd ever seen. The system ls now computerised to summon the lift closest to where one is - unique and very efficient. l found the bar a bit on the dark side, yet very nicely appointed, and staff very willing and cordial. The main restaurant offers an excellent menu and wine list, and in general l'd say that the hotel is not overly expensive, bearing in mind the location, which is excellent, near Regents Park, and one tube station from Oxford Circus. Quiet, yet close enough to main West End streets. l would say perhaps that check-in was a bit slow, and telephone charges seemed a bit high, although that is probably the generality. Also, television set in the room was old generation. Overall, very pleased, and happy to revisit a piece of my childhood!. A hotel guest gave the stay 4 out of 5: Stayed for three nights, hotel was lovely. It was out first visit to london and the hotel is located right by the tube, very easy to get around. walking distance to oxford circus where they have all the shops & restaurants and tour bus stop. breakfast in the morning was fresh and delicious. the concierge was friendly and gave great direction/suggestions. i highly recommend it! |
