We have just returned from our holiday and we stayed one night before departure and one night on our return plus parking, the whole package was excellent value and the hotel itself seem very professional and efficient, the rooms were quite small ( I have stayed in smaller ) but spotless clean with tea /coffee making facilities and also a biscuit to have with your cuppa, the taxi transfers were efficient and very polite staff, the only down side was the price of the breakfast, if this was reduced then this Hotel would be spot on, having said that I would definately stay there again.

This hotel is not on the hotel hoppa route but it organises taxi returns (£6 each way for up to 4 people) to the airport which work much better and more cheaply than the hoppa. You book the taxi for a specified time and it worked extremely well, no waiting around at all, which is great when you have an early morning departure. On the way back we phoned the taxi firm from the airport and they were very efficient. Our room was large and comfortable. The Chequers bar serves good food and beer at a reasonable price. You can leave your car on site so no hassle driving off to a car park in the morning. We were very impressed with the hotel and services it provided, and will use this place as first preference when we travel out of Gatwick.

Liked: Happy and very helpful staff, bathroom especially good for elderly with limited mobility.
Disliked: Evening dinner quality and choice in the restaurant was disppointing (breakfast very good). Parking for disabled 'blue badge' customers very limited, those with essential wheelchair access not possible at front of hotel(blocked by cars thus left chair in car).Disabled parking at rear not found (blocked by more cars).
Overall: Just some frustrations as stated above, otherwise a pleasant well-equipped and happy-staffed hotel. All 'mod cons' and more in the very clean room, clean and spacious amenities and communal areas.

We booked here because we had a very early flight from Gatwick the next morning. It was all fine except that we asked for a wake-up call at 4.30am which didn't happen. Luckily we happened to be awake and the 5am taxi arrived punctually, which was great. We understand that wake-up calls are not frequently requested now with most people having cell phones and had asked for an alarm clock, but this was not available and we were assured that the wake-up call would be made.here was a great book about the area in the room and we did the self directed walking tour in the book, which we enjoyed and filled in the late afternoon very pleasantly.

NAME CHANGE IN 2007 from Thistle Gatwick in 2007

Date stayed: May 2005
review: Skip this place- our 1st room was very warm and the window was nailed (!) shut (no A/C). 2nd room- smoking, window opened and overlooked a very loud industrial generator. Woke up to find the shower knob was broken off as well. Bad night before an overseas flight. Neither of these issues looked like recent occurences, will probably still be broken if you go there.
