I booked a four night stay in this hotel and after booking was disillusioned and a bit put off by the somewhat bad reviews this hotel got. I immediately emailed the manager who responded to my mail and immediately put me at ease by his kind reassuring response. My first impression on arriving at the hotel was Oh No! as it looked very old and a little weather beaten on the outsside and was in a kind of an un usual setting up a lane way, My fears were immediately dispelled when I stepped inside, although not a luxurious hotel, more a homely type, I was greeted by a most helpful and pleasant well groomed receptionist. I was even more pleasantly surprised when I was sent to the fourth floor bedroom which was newly refurbished, spacious and scrupulously clean equipped with every necessity possible..TV, Ironing Board, Safe, Hair Dryer, Tea Making facilities etc.. Breakfast and Dinner was served in the dining room on a self service basis. Everything you could possibly think of to eat, and as much as you wanted, with friendly helpful courteous staff buzzing about helping out whenever possible. Unfortunately I did not get to use the leisure centre which too looked very inviting. I would say to fellow travellers .... not to be too put about by the bad reviews...the hotel does need improving and all the floors need refurbishing not just some...but to communicate with the hotel before your stay....no point complaining if you haven't made clear what you want. When booking on line state clearly in the comments box what you want ....just like I did and make the manager aware of whatever worries you might have. He cannot do anything if he is not aware you have a problem until you have gone. I will deffinetely be staying in this hotel again not for its luxury but for its good value for money, its friendly staff, and its good management team who do their best to ensure the meet your requirements and have a good stay. WELL DONE ONE AND ALL.

Food is great, they have a lovely pool/spa/gym and the rooms are comfortable. Don't pay the hotel for parking as you can do it yourself for cheaper on the arndale (especially at the weekends!) if you can get the £119 DB&B (two nights) offer grab their hands off as dinner is excellent!

The hotel was excellent and a great place to unwind before taking a flight from Luton airport, its only a short taxi ride away

Stay here quite regularly, always excellent value. Breakfast good as always, always a pleasure to see Gilbert - what a character! Room did not have A/C, so it did get a little stuffy. Wi-fi very reliable and quick. Did not get chance to use the health suite this time, but I will next time I stay!
