| Rated 4.8 out of 5: The Old Palace Hotel is a gem; we only had an overnight stay so couldn't use all its amenities but it wonderful to finally find a 'proper' hotel with staff that cared. And the scrambled eggs at breakfast were the best I've ever had! To qualify my 'good' on the cleanliness of room, it only dropped the point as the bedroom had been superbly refurbished but the bathroom had not making it a little tired in comparison. Rated 4.5 out of 5: We had booked a family room with our two children (10 and 14). There had been some grumbling from the kids about sharing a sofa bed for the night- they were delighted then when we checked in to find the hotel had provided an additional bed in the room so the kids did not need to share. The staff in the hotel were exceptionally friendly and chatted with the kids making them feel especially welcome. The Full English breakfast buffet was good enough without being exceptional (you could tell the beans had been on the stove top for a while and the fried bread was soggy) but the service was prompt and friendly. Rated 4.5 out of 5: Recently stayed in this hotel to attend a family wedding. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Rooms really smart with large comfortable beds. Nice, satisfying breakfast , good service. Overall a pleasant stay at the old palace lodge.. |

| Rating out of 10: 10 Date stayed: March 2005 review: This hotel manages to mix old world charm with modern friendly facilities. As you enter the Ivy clad doorway is impressive and the wood paneling is very charming. The receptionist was warm and friendly as where most of the staff we came in contact with. What was really nice was the bedroom. It was modern but not in your face and the bathroom was 5 star standard. I really can't fault the place it had dressing gowns, mineral water and best of all FREE WiFi which saved me a lot of money getting my e mails and saved alot of time trying to log on!! It even had those silly little chocolates on the pillow. Breakfast was my best bit as it was cooked fresh and served on a plate - no horrid buffets that you queue for ages at Full marks to the place - next time i'm in Luton I'll be staying there again |
