| A Radisson Edwardian Berkshire guest rated the stay as 4 out of 5 and said: We stayed for one night, giving us time to see the Lion King (superb show), do some shopping and have a quick tour of the sights. The hotel is almost opposite Bond Street tube station and just a few seconds away from the shops in Oxford Street, so the location is excellent. The entrance is down a side street, the reception is small, but there are two desks and we didn't have to wait when checking in or out and the receptionists were very efficient and friendly. The hotel has been refurbished, but does have lots of dark wood on show and feels grandly somber. The standard room was surprisingly small as was the bathroom; perfectly adequate for two or three nights, but the decor was beige/dark brown would have begun to feel rather claustrophobic on a longer stay. You can upgrade to a superior room though. The bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows, but I'm 6ft tall and had to pull it away from the head board otherwise my feet dangled over the end of the mattress! There are tea and coffee making facilities hidden inside a large draw in the wardrobe, but no biscuits! The shower was hot, powerful and very welcome after walking around in the cold January air. One surprising issue was the sash windows which, though double glazed, had a very poor all round seal, leaked cold air and allowed street noise to enter the room. I noticed the windows in the breakfast room have the same problem, so assume the rest of the hotel has a similar issue. We were on the 1st floor, facing a side street and despite some heavy curtains were woken several times during the night by traffic, late night revelers, street cleaners, a dustcart and other noises. The weather was very cold and despite a modern digital controller, the room heater didn't deliver enough warm air, even on the maximum setting and battled against the influx of cold air through the windows. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise. The dining room has a very comfortable up market atmosphere, very good choice of fruits, cereals, juices (excellent freshly squeezed orange) and a high quality buffet selection for those who enjoy a traditional English breakfast. We would have been very happy eating here during an extended stay! We would certainly consider using this hotel again as the location is excellent but would request a superior room on one of the upper floors to avoid external noise and perhaps go when the weather is warmer to avoid the cold draughts!! A guest gave the accommodation 4 out of 5: I travel to London a few times a year and rarely stay at the same hotel as I am frequently dissapointed. Generally London hotels have one star too much when compared to same star level in most other countries unless your budget allows you to stay at the absolute best, which again are completely overpriced compared to the best hotels in most other countries. Recently I stayed at the Radisson Edwardian Berkshire Hotel and I will most likely stay here again next time I am in London. It is centrally situated and has a fairly decent standard. I made sure to book a room with a King Size bed to make sure I did not get too small a room. The staff was also very helpfull. |
