Rating out of 10: 7 Date stayed: June 2006 review: STAYED HERE MANY TIMES BETWEEN 2002 AND 2006,IT WAS A NEAT LOCATION FOR CENTRAL LONDON,IT HAD ITS MOMENTS,ROOMS WERE COMFORTABLE,BATHROOMS WERE A BIT GROTTY THOUGH,ITS DOWNSTAIRS FACILITIES WERE UNMMATCHED,YOU HAD HARRY RAMSDENS,THAT IRISH BAR,NEWSAGAENT,COFFEE SHOP. I SHALL MISS IT,IT WAS REASONABLE FOR CENTRAL LONDON,NOT THE WORST I HAVE STAYED IN. Rating out of 10: 3 Date stayed: July 2006 review: Have stayed twice. Rooms very basic and not always very clean. BUT fab location and cheap for London. Use as a base to sleep in and you will be fine. They should probably remove 'Palace' from the title!! Rating out of 10: 4 Date stayed: August 2006 review: not the cleanest of hotels ! en suite was a cupboard in the corner of the room and no plugs in baths in shared facilities. it served its purpose as a base for sightseeing and was cheap for central london, thats about all i can say ! Rating out of 10: 8 Date stayed: February 2006 review: Rooms are basic, but have everything you could possibly need!!! Shared facilties are fine, showers lovely and hot and very powerful. Real bargain considering the location, slap bang on Piccadilly Circus, 2 minute walk to Leicester Square and ten minutes to Trafalgar. Absolutely wicked. I mean what do you expect for £39 a night in the centre of london?????????? Will definately be visting again - had a great time!!! Rating out of 10: 5 Date stayed: January 2005 review: It is agreed that the hotel is basic but that is why it is 2 star. However booking in advance through a travel agent (NOT at reception!) will get you a double room for £30 per person. If you are just in London for a short stay and the shopping you can not get a better location/price than this hotel. 5 out of 10 for amenities but 10 out of 10 for location Rating out of 10: 1 Date stayed: December 2004 review: This is the worst hotel I have stayed in the UK. As someone I spoke to in the lift said to me - "i've stayed in worse but not in western europe". It is very similar to a hotel I stayed in on a romanian ski(Brasov)resort 10 years ago. My television had a sticker on the side - saying "electrical safety test failed - do not use". The net curtains were yellowed and with holes from cigarette burns and the divan base was badly stained. The room smelt badly - I suspect as it was not en-suite and the toliet on our floor was out of order that the last guest had been using the sink. This cost me £80 for one night in december 04. The toilet and bathroom on our floor(no en-suite) were out of order and if you wished to get anything ironed - there was a room with an iron on the next floor- if you could find a maid to get a key for you. The hotel was scruffy(paint and paper coming off the walls) - and looked more like a halls of residence. If your staying in london and only using the hotel to return to after a night of serious drinking - (when it matters not much what its like) - then at least its central, and less windy than a shop doorway. But its disgraceful to a have a hotel like this in such a central part of london and its embarassing to think that foreign tourists must accidentaly end up here. - this gets one star for me but deserves a lower rating - DISGUSTING AND DIRTY - AVOID..!!!!!!!! Rating out of 10: 1 Date stayed: December 2004 review: There can not be a worse hotel in London for the price than the Strand Palace. The rooms are small. The walls are paper thin. The staff is grumpy. The bar looks like a place in search of bowling alley. The only thing it has going for it is that it is in the heart of the theater district, which means there are plenty of great plays and restaurants to choose from. Other than that, this place is ready for either new management or the wrecking ball. I choose the later. |
