| Rated 4 out of 5: 1) hotel staff were nice. 2) the location was pretty good for me close to oxford for shopping and close to a station. 1) no fridge. 2) a little over priced due to a small room. 3) food menu lacks lots of meals should add more !. 4) some of the staff were grumpy which kinda is annoying specially when they deliver your meal. Rated 4.5 out of 5: I had stayed at the hotel Russell 26 years previously and returned with my daughter. We had an excellent weekend. Hotel very comfortable upgraded our room. Good location walked to oxford street. Would stay here again. Rated 3.5 out of 5: Hotel was generally good. Clean rooms with a comfortable bed and a good size bathroom. However, the shower could do with modernising and the Air Con seemed to only have 2 settings - full blast or off (despite what it said on the display). The Air Con is also pretty noisy. Another negative was that we ordered some soft drinks in the morning by Room Service and they arrived after 35 minutes only after we had called to remind them. An apology was given by the receptionist but it seemed far from genuine. Would recommend this hotel but would warn them of the points above. Rated 4 out of 5: This is a very traditional hotel. If you like lots of marble and wide staircases then this is the place for you! It is a little dark but the bar is good if you like an intimate atmosphere. Service is slowish but courteous. We had a very pleasant light meal before the theatre. Breakfast was very good and the service was fine. We had booked a superior room and it was really good-plenty of space and a huge bed! We would stay here again when we come to London as the location is very good for all sorts of places to visit. Pretty good value for central London. |

| Rating out of 10: 9 Date stayed: August 2005 review: We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Originally we were warned off by a friend who worked in Russell Square approx. 10 years ago who said that it looked good from the outside but a bit 'of a hole' inside. We read that it had recently undergone a refurbishment - and what a pleasant suprise we got!!!! It was magnificent inside. The foyer was fantastic, all the marble and the chandeliers glistened with pride, although we were apprehensive on whether this was all a front and the rooms were sub-standard. How pleased we were to have such clean, tidy and well maintained standard room. Everything worked great and the cleanliness was very pleasing. The breakfast was fantastic and the staff very pleasant. The only criticism is that the outside could now do with having the windows washed and a little attention to detail on parts of walls which have received a bit of tape and plastic to cover damage - which didn't go unnoticed. The rooms view was over a back street pub, although as we were only using this hotel as a base it would definitely NOT put us off staying there again, but was a little disappointed as I did point out this was our Anniversary! PLEASE do not worry about staying here, it was a fantastic stay and I would recommend it to anyone. PS. The No 7 bus from across the square will take you straight into Oxford St. Rating out of 10: 8 Date stayed: July 2005 review: Lovely hotel, helpful on reception. Very nice sized rooms quiet, comfortable, clean, good sized bathroom good shower. Everything worked fine. Excellent location near to everything in London, Tube station just round corner. The best English breakfast I have ever had. Highly recommended. Rating out of 10: 2 Date stayed: August 2004 review: The hotel is a joke. Noise, hot rooms and the bathroom was out of order !! Staff simply not able to provide any service. Not worth it, find another place to stay. |
