| Rated 4 out of 5: The rooms in this hotel have been refurbished to a high standard. A single room and the en-suite is nevertheless very small but adequate for just one person Rated 4 out of 5: This hotel was very modestly priced for its location and proximity to the Tube Station.( less than 5 minute walk) It had almost completed a refurbishment and renovation which is probably why it was so reasonably priced. The stay included a cooked breakfast which was made to order and served at the guests' table. No undignified scrum or rubber eggs. it was a hot day when we arrived and the hotel had a nice touch of having a pitcher of iced water with mint leaves and lime as a refreshment during check in. Some staff were obviously new to the business and were a little unpolished, but the manager was vigilant and was quick to intervene if he spotted an impending problem. Rooms were tiny (it's London, after all) but well appointed and nicely furnished. I have no doubt that next season will see a substantial increase in rates as I am sure it was more of a 4 star than a 3. An enjoyable stay. Make sure you ask for a room at the back of the hotel as it fronts onto Cromwell Road. If traffic noise bothers you, take ear plugs. Rated 5 out of 5: London is a place we never tire of. This hotel was far superior to any other we'd stayed at during a Superbreak and i would have no hesitation in staying there again. Access to the tube was wonderful. Just a couple of minutes walk and easily accessible to the major museums and the west end the major negative was that I inadvertently threw away the wrong train ticket. My eyesight is poor and i read the top part (London, kings x) as the departure point as that is the usual way it's presented. Instead it was the wrong one and we had to pay our return fare back home. So read those tickets carefully. Rated 4 out of 5: Our room was very clean and well equipped. The beds were comfortable. The location of the hotel was perfect being very near to Gloucester Road tube station. Close to good restaurants, cafes and shopping. Good value for money. Our room was lower ground floor (basement) and we didn't like the lack of natural light. The room had obviously recently been refurbished and there was a very strong and unpleasant smell of paint along the corridor and especially in the bedroom A guest gave the Rydges Kensington Plaza 4 out of 5 and wrote: We booked 3 double rooms as part of a theatre break weekend with my parents and some friends. We arrived early on the Saturday morning not expecting to be able to check in but we were pleasantly surprised that not only were our rooms ready but we had been upgraded to the executive floor. Our rooms were lovely, high ceilings, large comfortable beds and well fitted and clean bathrooms. We had no problems with noise or any problems with the front desk who we always found to be helpful. Breakfast was very disorganised, with our orders being incorrectly taken and slow to arrive, one girl only seemed to be offering coffee and doing nothing else, we had been offered the very ordinary coffee about three times before our food arrived. Food ok when did arrive. Location is fantastic with the Gloucester Rd tube station (Piccadilly Line) in site of the hotel front door. Natural History Museum, Science Museum, V&A Museum all within a 5-10 min walk up Cromwell St, and a little further up and your are on Knightsbridge High Street and into Harrods... Would stay again! Rated 4.7 out of 4: Liked: Clean, comfortable with a great shower! Disliked: A lot of road noise could be heard even with the window closed Overall: Will be back next time I am staying in Kensington! A hotel gust gave the stay 3 out of 5: Arrived to find a pleasant reception area and a accommodating member of staff. We booked an Executive room for two nights including breakfast. A The room was bigger from floor to ceiling than it was wall to wall and the bathroom was minute. B We had no where to put or suitcase so we jammed it on top of the small single wardrobe C The window looked out into a wall D The breakfast was ok on the first morning but the single toaster was totally inadequate and the waitress had to be shown what butter was. She denied they had any at first "Strange" We decided to have room breakfast on our second day E It arrived cold, no butter, no orange When we went to check out the had charged us £35 for the privilege stating that room breakfast was charged twice because it was not included. We told them it was cold incomplete and under no circumstances we paying for it twice. The manager Tish was surely and begrudging realising she was not going to win this unfair battle, reluctantly removed the disgraceful double charge. |
