A Saracens Head guest gave the hotel 5 out of 5 and said:
They are running a special offer the end of May 2009 for £49.50 for a double room with breakfast which is amazing value. The bedrooms and the ensuite were very clean, a fair size and nicely decorated. Our room was on the groundfloor facing the carpark, which I wouldn't have chosen, but the price and service made up for it. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and the full english breakfast was perfectly cooked. (No black pudding, but apart from that excellent!) The main bar and entrance of the hotel are very tired looking and could do with an overhaul, the carpet in the bar/entrance is a bit grubby looking, I suspect this is probably something they are getting round to doing, concentrating on redoing the bedrooms first.

A hotel guest rated the stay as 4 out of 5 and wrote:
Having seen the remarks from others my wife and I were a bit dubious to stay at the Saracen's Head. What we did not realise was the management and ownership had changed hands in early 2008. We arrived to a warm welcome and a prompt check in. Our room was nice if a bit tired looking and the food we had in the restaurant was superb. The new managers were very friendly and were happy to chat with us. They informed us of refurbishment plans which is taking place in January. We will deffinately stay there again when we next fly from Stansted.
