| Rated 4 out of 5 : Stayed 1 night as part of a conference. Hotel was perfectly acceptable, the service prompt particularly at tea/coffee breaks and at dinner. My room was a good size and the extra heater kept it warm on a very cold night. Bathroom was clean and modern. Not sure how much we paid so can't comment on value for money Rated 3 out of 5 : Conference in December - 2 night stay. Receptionist very helpful not convinced that there is an esprit de Corp in anyone else. Very tired room let down by some of the basics. 6inches of snow outside and you end up hiding the radiator behind the curtain (perhaps this is recognised - fan heater also in room). Bathroom freezing - as previously noted - toilet so close to the wall and heated towel rail i suspect that Twiggy couldn't use it either. I suspect this is why the towel rail is disabled (no control knob) since you would have to burn your leg. What amazed me was the complete lack of the basics for a 4 star hotel. No info in rooms, although a menu there was no timing or location info. Only managed to get dinner by 4 minutes! Breakfast was a joke, no info as to what room was in use - no table cloths so cutlery laid out on cheap conference tables. Staff time must be taken up by people asking the basics. Is it a golf club bar or a hotel. Rated 4.5 out of 5 : Beautiful hotel, huge rooms and very good service. The only thing I would say was that our room was the the start of the corridor and there were some very noisy people going past very late into the night. I don't think there is a lot the hotel can do about this, maybe a few signs asking people to consider others!. Rated 3.5 out of 5 : We arrived for a one night stay and were welcomed by the receptionist Ciara who was very helpful and courteous, she explained in detail all the facilities available and gave us accurate directions to our room, On arrival at our room which was clean and tidy we noticed an electric fire which was switched off however within ten minutes we realised how cold the room was due to the very old windows the wind was blowing through the gaps. We then went to dinner in the restaurant and the food was excellent but the only problem was it was again cold in the dining room and the head waitress actually told us not to choose a table by the windows as the wind was blowing in .Drinks at the bar afterwards was pleasant before we retired to bed. Next morning after a very cold night in the room even with the electric fire on all night breakfast was presented well and very nice and now the dining room was warm because the sun was shining through those draughty windows. Overall a pleasant hotel with nice staff, excellent food but they really need to sort out the windows and the heating of the place, Would we stay again ...yes.. in the summer months. |
