| Rated 4 out of 5: We have stayed a number of times at Gatwick Sofitel as our onward flight leaves at 6.00am in the morning and we can't get a flight from Belfast unless we come the night before. The hotel is exceptional and has a partner hotel in Heathrow which we stayed in earlier in the year also and where we were upgraded to a beautiful room with tv in the bathroom. We can not fault this hotel chain and plan to visit again. Rated 4.5 out of 5: Sofitel hotel is very comfortable with excellent access to both Gatwick terminals.I stayed for one night on a room only basis so cannot comment on the food.I have used this hotel annually over several years, including a number of stays when it was Le Meridien, and it has always been a good experience. The only area for improvement would be to reintroduce the swimming pool that was present in Le Meridien days.I would expect a pool in a modern hotel of this standard. Rated 4 out of 5: Have stayed here a number of times, though this is my first review. Hotel is in a great location right next to Gatwick North Terminal via a covered walkway. Rooms are comfortable although I wish a twin room here meant two double beds, instead of oversized singles. Neverthless, beds themselves were comfy and the room well appointed. Hotel atrium is massive and has a brasserie and chinese restaurant - both of which are very good if a little pricey, but hey, this is a quality airport hotel. If you are planning a holiday or business trip with an early morning getaway, I can thoroughly recommend this place to help ease you gently into your vacation. Note the parking - as described by another reviewer - can be a nightmare (that includes the valet). A guest gave the hotel 4 out of 5 and said: Excellent hotel, quiet room, big comfy bed. The Gatwick oriental boasts Ken Hom as executive chef but it is identical to your average high street or takeaway chinese but at a much higher price. Food was fine but far too dear. Note the access to the hotel is poor while the airport improvement works are ongoing. A guest gave the hotel 5 out of 5 and said: Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - we arrived early on a freezing cold day and were able to check in early which was very nice. Room (622) was warm, clean, and well equipped and we had a nice view of the planes taking off! We had dinner at the Brasserie which was absolutely delicious and was included in our room rate (a special offer, booked direct with the hotel). After a long hot soak in the bath with lovely L'Occitane toiletries, a great dinner and a super comfortable bed we both had a great night's sleep. Whilst there was extensive construction going on outside we didn't hear any noise at all - the hotel seems to be very well soundproofed. The access tunnel from the North Terminal was partially closed but it's a pretty short walk from the Terminal to the hotel so we didn't feel this to be much of an inconvenience - a bit chilly in the winter but otherwise fine. Breakfast was also delicious and included in our room rate. All in all, a great stay. I would suggest that if you are thinking of staying here you check the hotel's own website aswell as any other hotel booking sites - in this case we actually got a better deal by booking direct. However, it's always best to search around as often this is not the case. |
