We had booked in to The Soho Hotel for our daughters 21st birthday to stay over as we had booked to go to gordon Ramsey's Maze restaurant. The hotel is situated in the heart of Soho and is located down a small lane (Richmond Mews). You may need a good map or SatNav to find it as the roads around are one way so your "approach" needs to be planned in advance. However, it is not difficult at all to find and there is adequate "drop-off" parking when you arrive.
I would recommend taking up the offer of Valet parking as this is both convenient and saves a lot of time finding the local NCP.
The feeling was good as soon as we parked up. Staff came out to take our bags and park the car. (note - the Valet parking attendant moved my seat to park the car - but - when we left and the car was returned - my seat had been put back into my own pre-programmed seating position - hows that for detail !!)
Reception was very professional and beautifully appointed...like the massive cat statue. A nice touch was the hotel offered a complimentary bottle of champagne for my daughter and her partner. This was duly delivered to their room, complete with ice bucket as a suprise. The rooms are beautifully appointed and the bathrooms fantastic. Robes, slippers, mini-bar and a cupboard full of goodies that my wife called "the shop" there was so much to choose from.
Prices in the hotel were actually a little less than we expected for a Soho 5* hotel.
There was a buzz around in the bar and restaurant areas and lots of little touches only the Firmdale Hotel Group know how to do.
I could go on and on, but just try it....it great.
The staff are all so friendly and helpful, never in your face, just fantastic.
Now, breakfast was another thing worth mentioning, we (and some of our friends) have voted for years the the "Malmaison" breakfast is the best you can get...not anymore. The breakfast is the BEST there is. The breakfast staff are all bubbly and friendly...almost too much if you are wearing a hangover. But it was a great all round experience. My daughter and her partner have not stopped talking about it and thanking us for treating them.
Not cheap, but hey.....real value for money when all taken into account.
Oh by the way....Maze was Amazing also. That will be another review soon.
Nik Angela, Madeleine Chambers (and partner Tony) Cheers...

We stayed at this hotel for a belated Valentines treat. My partner asked the hotel to buy some flowers and put them in the room and they were beautiful. We had to phone the concierge to get directions to drive in to the hotel as it is tucked away in a quiet mews. On arrival we were told they had given us an upgrade. We had booked a junior suite but were upgraded to a Signature suite which was significantly bigger and would have been out of our price range! We were given tea/coffee in the lounge while the room was checked by housekeeping, which was fine by us. The room was absolutely gorgeous with a balcony from which we could see the London Eye, post office tower etc.
We had dinner in the hotel which was quite pricey but very good.
The check out time is 11o/c but they we asked if we could stay til 1pm and they said that was fine.
It was a very comfortable and enjoyable stay, not least because my partner proposed to me on the balcony!!
We will definitely stay there again as its perfectly placed for shops, theatre and the centre of London generally.

My husband and I stayed at the Soho Hotel at the beginning of March 2011 for five nights. The staff were amazing, especially the concierge (Sandro in particular).
The room was very large, light, bright and very comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and luxurious. The breakfast was the best buffet breakfast we had during our tour of Europe. We didn't eat at the hotel other than breakfast, but we did have drinks a few times in the bar, which was very lively and fun.
The hotel was in a superb position - easy walk to Piccadilly Circus tube, and walking distance to the Kings Road and Regent St for shopping, yet as it is tucked down a little alley it was very quiet. Also, lots of great little places to eat lunch/dinner around there.
On the down side: having to pay for WIFI. At a hotel of this quality and price, I really think it should be included in the room rate. 40 pence per minute is ridiculous, esp when you can walk to the fantastic cafe over the road (Princie) and get it for FREE!
Other than that, this hotel was perfect. I would recommend it to all.
