Rated 3.7 out of 5: We stayed for 2 nights - Coffee to go option. The location of the hotel was excellent, 2 mins walk to Tottenham Court road tube station and the Dominion Theatre. Ideal for shopping as Oxford Street is only a couple of minutes walk. The Hotel is basic, but thats what we expected so it was not a problem. For the price we paid, we could not fault this hotel and will definitely stay again. :) Rated 4 out of 5: My family and I had a fantastic weekend in London. We all stayed at st giles hotel. The hotel was lovely and friendly and very convenient for Covent garden and oxford street and all the theatres. Rated 3.5 out of 5: This hotel is well situated - could see Big Ben and London Eye from our bedroom! The staff were efficient and food in the Italian Restaurant was very good. Breakfast was extra - and only OK - this is the only place I have ever stayed where toast is NOT AVAILABLE!!! Everything at breakfast was help yourself so could they not buy 3-4 toasting machines?? Bar was lively. Room was small but clean and adequately furnished if rather stuffy as very very noisy with window open and fan too noisy to use. Bathroom modern and clean but poor lighting and water not hot enough to allow one to linger in the bath, if you are a 'bath person like me! Easy access to casino added to the experience. There was a good bus service close by - we do not like underground, preferring to see where we are going! eg easy to get to Westminster Bridge and museums in Kensington. Rated 4 out of 5: Surely the best located budget hotel in London. 5 mins walk from Leicester Square, 2 mins from Oxford St and in the very heart of the theatre district. The rooms are more than adequate; comfortable beds and decent size bathrooms although the vast size of the place means there's always a lot of traffic in the corridors and the long waits for the lifts. Really like the breakfast - good range of hot and cold food, a minor quibble would be the unappealing room and the prevalence of guests who arrive down in slippers (hadn't really seen that in hotels before). Breakfast room doubles as an Italian restaurant by night and there's a Chinese eatery adjacent to the lively bar downstairs. Always buzzing with activity, this hotel is perfect for a weekend break to London |

Rating out of 10: 10 Date stayed: March 2008 review: Room very nice spotless. Plenty clean towels ect. Breakfast brilliant first class. Nice Bar reasonable prices. Staff helpful and friendly. Overall can't fault. Rating out of 10: 7 Date stayed: January 2008 review: My sister and I stayed for one night,we were going to see Hairspray at the Shaftsbury Theatre and it was quite near to the hotel. The hotel itself was just ideal and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The room was very comfortable and clean although a little small but adequate for our needs.I would definitely stay at the hotel again. Rating out of 10: 8 Date stayed: January 2006 review: We've stayed at the St Giles a few times now. Although the rooms are fairly small, they're always spotlessly clean and have all the amenities you'd expect; tea & coffee making facilities, tv, toiletries, in-room safe etc. There are also leisure facilities including a swimming pool, bar and restaurant. Its biggest assets are its location and price. It's literally seconds from Oxford Street and less than 5 mins from Covent Garden, Shaftesbury Ave, Leicester Square, Soho and Chinatown. For around £80 per room per night for a double room, what more could you want Rating out of 10: 3 Date stayed: May 2004 review: The morning and night concierges knew little about bus tours or tour schedules. We found out about tour schedules from other guests. The street noise outside ST. GILES was horrible (teenage goth rock n rollers were camped outside Virgin Records for the entire weekend). I ignored it the first night, thinking that it would not continue the next night. I should have known better; the crowd just got larger and larger as the weekend wore on. The second night at about midnight, I called London Police to report a serious disturbance below our window at ST. GILES. I thought perhaps someone had been hurt. The police department expressed no surprise. I was told that the gathering outside Virgin Records and the ST.GILES HOTEL was a regular event. Virgin records has concert and record promotions on weekends, and strange-looking (and often menacing) teenagers camp out on the sidewalk in order to receive promotional products. During the first and second night of our stay at the ST. Giles HOTEL, the crowd made noise all night long, and from our window we witnessed at least two violent arguments among members of the crowd. When I complained about it to the ST. GILES management on the second night, I was told that management was not aware of any ongoing problem but did offer to put us in another room. I accepted the change of room AT TWO O'CLOCK A.M.. I was told that we would not be charged for that night. The next evening, we returned to our new room at the ST. GILES only to find ourselves locked out of our bedroom. We had to find the manager to let us into our room. Our room had not been serviced. The bed had not been made, and the sheets had not been changed. As we checked out of the ST. GILES HOTEL, I asked to talk to the manager to make sure that we were in agreement regarding room charges. I was assured that there would be NO charge for our entire stay. All that we would be required to pay was the phone bill to the police. I signed a bill which showed ONLY charges for using the phone and a waiver for upcharges to a "better" room . I asked about my signature at check-in, and I was told that was simply to verify that I had checked in. No charge had been made to my credit card, I was told. This proved to be a lie. When I received my credit card bill, I exchanged emails with someone named Sandy at the ST. GILES HOTEL. Her replies were bland and expressed little concern. She was very uncooperative. Perhaps her responses are consistent with hotel policy: LIE TO THE GUESTS. The management of the ST. GILES HOTEL lied to me to get me out of the hotel without confrontation or discussion, then failed to credit my credit card as I was promised. FORGET about eating at the pizza parlor in the restaurant. We ordered a bottle of water with our awful pizza, and when the waiter brought it to the table, the bottle was open. When we asked for an UNOPENED bottle of water, the waiter told us that it was the last bottle of water. (Yeah, right). I suggest that you steer your clients AWAY from this hotel. |
