| Rated 5 out of 5: Strand Palace hotel close to Covent Garden and within easy walking distance of many of the tourist attractions and theatres of London. Really enjoyed the open top bus tour of central London followed by a boat trip on the Thames from Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge and back. Rated 4.5 out of 5: I stayed at the hotel for 1 night in April 2011 - I stayed in a Club Twin Room. The hotel is situated centrally very close to Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square. If you are visiting London for shopping, you have to walk a bit before you reach Regent Street and Oxford Street - and it might be worth considering a hotel nearer Oxford Street. But if you want to enjoy great ambience at the fantastic Covent Garden og want to be close to the lively river, this is a great option for you. The staff was very friendly. Firstly, I arrived at the hotel at 10am and was able to get my room that early even though the normal check in time is from 2pm. Excellent service and really unexpected. I was offered complementary morning news paper and/or a wake-up call. I stayed in a Club Twin Room. The room was a standard sized room located on the 7th floor. The hotel is large and must have close to 1000 rooms - the building is squared and there is a small courtyard in the centre. The windows from the room was facing this courtyard - I couldn't open the window and look down, but it beats starring at a brick wall :0) The room was clean and so was the adjacent bathroom. Conclusion: The staff was friendly and provided excellent service, but with a price tag of £174 I had expected more from the room. I would stay there again, but I would look for a better price than what I paid this time. Rated 4 out of 5: This hotel is in a great location near shops, restaurants and tube stations. It is also walking distance to many sights (Trafalgar square, London eye etc). The room was quite small but not claustrophobic however the view from the room was a bit poor (but since it wasn't facing the street at least it was quiet). The staff at the hotel were all very pleasant and the breakfast was great - good selection of both hot and cold food. The only thing i was disappointed with was the internet. The complimentary access provided was barely enough time for 2 people to check their e mails. Overall we had great stay and would recommend this hotel. |
