| A Swan Hotel guest gave the hotel 4 out of 5 and said: To make an early flight from Stanstead, and to have a bit of extended holiday time we decided to stay a couple of nights in this nice looking inn, and were really glad we did. Lovely old timber framed inn complete with slightly wonky walls and floors; nicely understated stone/cream/blue toned decor in the room with a fantastically comfy bed, a good size bathroom and (an unexpected surprise, maybe something to do with the layout of the building) a second room. Breakfast was great (big enough so you could go back upstairs and sleep some more on the lovely bed). The staff were lovely and the beers well kept. And all this set in a gorgeous, interesting village. We'd definitely stay here again, maybe for a few more nights next time, with some more time to explore the surrounding area. A guest rated the stay as 4 out of 5: Stayed for two nights on a weekend break. The outstanding feature was the really helpful, friendly service from everyone working on the hotel. Good food and drink, although those are fairly standard across the Greene King Old English Inns chain. Agree with the earlier reviewer about the bathroom - in ours, you couldn't stand up for a shower. However, the bedroom was well-equipped, including hairdrier and iron and ironing board. The one real downside is the noise - the hotel is on the Stansted airport flight path and only about 4 miles away, so the planes are fairly low when they come over. However, the overall value for money was excellent - we paid £200 for two nights' dinner, bed and breakfast, including drinks with dinner on both nights. |
