| Rated 4 out of 5: Nice hotel just a few steps from Trafalgar Square. Excellent service and very clean with the exception of a portion of the hotel being renovated but that's to be expected with a lot of work going on. Rated 4 out of 5: Arrived at the hotel and we were given an early check-in for free which was very handy. The hotel is in the best location, right next to the tube, so we could easily pop back when you needed to (drop my shopping bags off)!! The reception and concierge are very helpful, the area and hallways are very clean and nice. On an evening they light lots of candles and place them around so its very pretty. The rooms are very small and the bathroom could have done with a deep clean, but overall the rooms are fine and if you are like us you are not in the room for very long anyway. The only complaint we would have is that the bed wasn't comfortable at all! My boyfriend really struggled to sleep and the mattress was very hard! It was quiet though, but this may be as we were on the 6th floor. Breakfast was nice, the room you eat in is very nice and traditional. Would def stay here again. Rated 4 out of 5: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and were very pleased with the service from all the staff. On arrival our concern about the original room that we had been allocated (it smelt of smoke) was dealt with very swiftly and we were given another , larger room. When this room had a problem with the fridge we were given a complimentary bottle of wine and the problem was resolved for us as we sat in the restaurant enjoying our evening meal. It is true that the bedrooms are a little jaded ,with peeling wallpaper in places and some rusting of bathroom fittings, but generally they are quite large and are certainly comfortable. The public areas are beautiful ,with lovely staircases and corridors leading to the wonderful lounge and breakfast room ,both of which have fantastic ceilings. The hotel is a delight in the evening when candles are placed along the corridors and stairs- it is quite magical. The location is excellent allowing for a gentle stroll down the Mall after our meal in the evening and easy access to all of London's attractions during the day. via the tube, which is only a few yards away from the hotel entrance. Despite being above the station ,the hotel rooms are quiet and the public areas are tranquil with piped classical music adding to the feeling that this is a pleasant retreat from the bustle of the city. All in all we had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the hotel especially for its comfortable grandeur and welcoming staff. Rated 4.5 out of 5: I would highly recommend Charing Cross hotel. It has a central location which minimises travel and maximises your time for enjoyment. The hotel itself is an impressive mid 19th century Victorian building which has a great ambiance. The rooms are spacious. Some of the rooms are located in a separate wing which is not quite as nice but still fine. Rated 4.5 out of 5: Fantastic location in the heart of London, a couple of minutes from Trafalgar square, about 10 mins walk to Covent garden with lots of theatres close by. The hotel was nice, not wow but for the price we paid on late rooms it was excellent value for money. We had a junior suite which was nice and spacious and the breakfast was nice and again good value for money considering prices we have paid for breakfast in other hotels. All in all great location, nice room and good value. Would I stay here again - yes. |
