Having read some of the reviews I was a bit doubtful about what to expect but all I can give is our experience of the hotel. It is in a great location, a bit noisy at night but after a full day in London who has problems sleeping. All the staff were friendly and helpful - a member of the cleaning staff even gave us directions to our room unasked when we emerged from the lift. The room was large and well furnished. The standard lamp was not working but we reported it that evening and when we arrived back at the hotel the following day it had been fixed. The bathroom could probably do with updating but having said that it was very clean with a good supply of hot water and nice towels. We only took breakfast in the hotel but the service was excellent and the range of food plentiful and good. This is not a modern "chrome and glass" hotel but I would certainly stay again.

This is a great hotel for central London and proved very good value for the price that I paid. The rooms could do with being updated but it is just cosmetic - the beds and bathroom were spotless. If you are looking for an overnight stay close to theatres, night life and all the attractions, I would thoroughly recommend this traditional hotel. (I would also recommend spending the money on the breakfast - lovely restaurant and great, fresh selection to set you up for the day!)

First time I've ever asked for a free upgrade and seemingly got one.....although I'm not sure as the room we got was really poor, it was tiny and pretty dirty, the bathroom wasn't up to scratch either. Perhaps its a joke staff play on guests who cheekily ask if there's any free upgrades!
Checkout took forever also as staff kept coming and going and nobody really bothered taking us on.
The noise at night is unbearable and that's even being on one of the highest floors.
Breakfast was grim unfortunately and in a tiny little room.
The location really is ideal though, right in the middle of it all.

We were worried initially because we had read about how small hotel rooms are in London. We booked a triple for the three of us and it was bigger than my lounge and kitchen together!
We got off the Underground station and a very nice gentleman took pity on the poor lost women with no idea where East was, and guided us to the hotel, where he worked! The staff were very friendly, and we stored our luggage whilst sightseeing, as we got in from Heathrow at the inhumane hour of 6:30am.
Our room was large, clean and had a nice view of the area. The bathroom was bigger than mine, and all white. The bed was large enough for two grown women to sleep in with a line of pillows down the middle and STILL not touch anything. I slept on the sofa bed and was very comfortable.
Breakfast was included in the very reasonable price, and was delicious. Hot and cold breakfast, range of juices and pastries and fresh fruit.
It was central to everything we wanted to do and see. We are planning on staying here again next year, just due to how nice this was.

Liked : clean rooms and friendly staff
Disliked : sliding window in room 410 is broken (window is not in its sliding rail) some of the deco' is looking worn out.
Overall:
overall very happy with my overnight stay. cant complain about anything.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 :
Hotel was good but does need bedroom up-grade, windows old fashioned, space was not used well but staff were most helpful. Breakfast very good. Position of hotel was central for theatreland restaurants and shopping.

Rated 3.5 out of 5 :
The hotel is in an extremely busy area of London, so do not expect to get a good nights sleep. The cleaning staff start work before 6.00 am and don't you know it. They do not have any consideration for the people who are sleeping. They constantly bang the fire doors, roughly every 2 minutes, and make as much noise as is humanly possible. On the plus side, the room was clean, the staff were friendly and the breakfast was excellent.
