Rated 4.5 out of 5 :
Good quality apartment with plenty of amenities on site eg pool, gym and a top class restaurant.Handy for Brick lane,Petticoat lane market and Spitalfields market. Superb conversion of a town hall in a quiet street just off a busy bustling area with good rail and tube links to all parts of London.

It's all about the style here. Stylish rooms, a respectful conversion of a nice old town hall building, and cool furniture (in a spartan Swiss / Wallpaper magazine way). The pool's nice. But most of the service was a bit rubbish. We emailed asking for a room (no answer), and had to call and they were a bit clueless. Receptionists were nice. But breakfast staff had no idea what was going on. We'd asked for a table for four in advance but they forgot (I quote 'sorry I hadn't even thought about it'). We had to ask for butter from the breakfast buffet (and when it arrived it was unspreadable from the fridge). We were there for 15 minutes. And didn't get a menu. Asked for one. Didn't get a menu. Asked for one and finally got one. And we wished we'd gone to the Boundary hotel for breakfast instead. To be fair, we got this room at a good opening rate and the service might've been sorted by the time your read this. And lots of beardy poseurs (including a band) who were milling around looked happy enough. But if I'd paid full price I'd have been fed up (especially as it's a good ten minutes from most of the good bits of East London).

The hotel is situated very close to Bethnal Green Road tube station for people needing to get about, for those who just want a weekend to relax, it is right in the heart of everything East London has to offer...Broadway Market, Brick Lane, Spitalfields, London Fields for a picnic, Flower Market on Columbia Road, great cafe's and great atmosphere. The hotel itself is fresh! The staff were very welcoming and accommodating, we received an upgrade to one of the Studio Apartments, it was stunning, with great amenities (inc. free wifi)! The open-plan space is everything a couple or small family would need. We did not do much cooking but the fridge to keep basic necessities (water, beer, fruit...) was great and it made breakfast and coffee an ease! Check out Monmouth Coffee (great beans!) if your new to London. The hotel is really clean and pool is amazing, natural lighting flooding in everywhere!! On top of all this, I managed to leave my £400 camera in the taxi we got from the hotel to Liverpool St early on Monday morning...the desk staff checked the room, just in case then contacted the Taxi service and sorted out getting the camera back, going above and beyond the call of duty! I really risked having a terrible end to the weekend but the Town Hall staff were great and I now have my camera and memories back safe and sound! We cannot rate this highly enough! I know we got an introductory offer, but this is well worth every penny!

We arrived too early to check in fully so left our bag at the hotel and filled out the check in form and paid deposit etc. Arrived back at the hotel later in the day to get our room key and had to wait 20 minutes for it, even though we'd pretty much checked in earlier. There were only 2 members of staff on at the time and although friendly enough weren't very efficient. I appreciate being shown to your room gives a personal touch but when there are only 2 members of staff on reception and several people waiting to check in, it's not the best idea! The room was impressive but lacked a few small touches which would only be noticed by guests staying there - I can see how they would be missed from the original design. For example, the only mirror was in the bathroom and nowhere near a plug socket. Although nice to look at, the bath isn't flush to the wall and has no surround so every time you have a shower, you have to try hard not to soak all around it. There was a distinct lack of information in the room - nothing about the local area, restaurant, breakfast times, telephone instructions (for setting up an alarm call). The hotel has managed to provide a list of prices for anything in the room, should you decide you want to pinch anything, however the majority of these things didn't feature in my room - no leather bound folder (perhaps this would have had some information in it!) and no iPod docking station either. My personal preference when I stay somewhere is always a king size bed or bigger as my boyfriend and I are both tall and need alot of space - our room had a double bed so we found it a bit of a struggle sleeping. Perfectly comfortable bed for average sized people though! Despite my gripes, this is a beautifully designed hotel which has enormous potential. In 6 months, I'm sure it will be excellent - especially once the east end regeneration is taking shape. The surrounding area isn't the nicest but given the hotel is only a 2 minute walk from the underground this isn't a big deal. Saying that, I was with my taller than average boyfriend... I wouldn't have been keen to walk around there in the dark myself!
