The bedroom was a cavernous 30-35 square metres or so. Though this may seem great, much of it was wasted floor space, and has a couple of major disadvantages: firstly, it's way too large for the one small radiator to heat adequately; and consequently the room felt distinctly chilly. Secondly, you almost needed binoculars to see the TV from the bed- plus the remote control didn't work, so it was a long walk to change channels or switch it off. The one advantage of cool room temperatures is that you sleep better, so I had a terrific night's sleep, not waking up until 1100.
Aside from that, it was a typically good Travelodge, pretty basic, but very clean and comfortable. Surprisingly, the bathroom had a proper bath tub... but no plug, presumably to stop people using too much hot water! No matter though, the shower was very good, so nice and hot compared to the room that I didn't want to come out.
The location within Croydon is excellent, just around the corner from East Croydon Station, and just across the road from the Whitgift Centre; also there's a tram stop just a few metres away.
Would I stay again? Definitely, but I'd prefer a smaller, warmer room during the Winter, or they should put in a second radiator, though I doubt that they would...

Usual Travelodge standard . Clean room and bathroom . Check in was fast and efficient . Extra bedding for sofa turned up when requested . There was a small amount of street noise , but didn't wake us up . Plenty of room for 3 people.
Only downside , as with most Travelodges I have stayed in is a stained sofa bed cover ... one day they'll redesign with washable covers !!
Great location for Fairfield Halls , East Croydon Station and shopping

My family and I arrived at Travelodge in Croydon Central before noon , and were asked to wait, even though we had offered to pay to be checked in early. After a good one hour - of wait, at noon, we finally were allowed to be checked in. Due to the lack of staff, we had trouble dragging our luggage to the rooms. We dropped our bags off, and got changed and left. It was a short walk to the train station - which I found extremely convenient. After a long day out, we were looking forward to having a drink and getting into bed. However, we could not access room service for ice as a telephone was not provided. Finally we got into bed, to realise that the beds were somewhat uncomfortable, and there were a lot of noises from the cars on the street outside, even though we were on the 8th storey.
Early next morning, there was an unexpected fire alarm, which awoke us with a start. We panicked, packed, and dashed out as soon as we could.
The plus point of this hotel is that it is fairly cheap for people on a budget. On the other hand, they must not have high expectations, as they would be disappointed as we were.
