| Rated 3 out of 5: This hotel is only 5mins away from Kings Cross and all the buses so made a great base for our days sightseeing. Family room a bit cramped. The window had a draught from it which you felt on you neck when you sat watching the tv on the sofa bed. The room was really cold and we had to keep putting the heater on full especially when you got in after 8pm. The sofa bed was also all faded on the part in front of the window and delved down in the middle. The mattress had a stain on it but all the sheets were clean. The duvet cover for this bed was crazy as it opened at either end and the quilt got all taffled up inside it. The door in the bathroom only just scraped by the toilet and the shower was set in the wall high up so to shower young children would be impossible. The cleaning staff were really nice and we had fresh towels and refreshments every day. The breakfasts were really nice and we had plenty to choose from and as much as you liked and the young girl was really friendly and helpful. The only staff who were offhand were the young men on the reception on the day we came and the day we left. We would stay again as we had a good location and as someone else said you get what you pay for and we had paid the same amount for a tiny room and an awful breakfast in one of the little streets opposite Kings Cross and that was the pits. It just need redecorating to keep it up to date and then the visitors will keep going to it. |

| Rating out of 10: 1 Date stayed: December 2009 review: If you don't mind bland, damp smelling rooms with beds you need to make yourself, fighting for pillows and towells due to lack of, Rolling together in the night due to crap beds, If you don't mind being laughed at by reception staff when you complain, If you don't mind plain bread at breakfast because there is no toaster..........THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU......BOOK NOW !!!! (I'm kidding, don't bother, it really is this bad!!!) Rating out of 10: 2 Date stayed: March 2005 review: It is by far the worst hotel we've stayed in ever!! We have stayed in Travel Lodge Heston on the M4, both East and West. Both are quite quiet compared to X-Cross, despite both being on the motorway and almost under Heathrow' runway. While Hestons' are triple glazed, X-Cross fifth floor family rooms are single glazed. Thameslink station tanoys and trains are relentless untill 1 a.m. and then from 5 a.m., so you can't get more than 4 hours sleep. (I think someone should get Environmental Health to measure the noise level) The room was very not clean, (contrary to all convinient hotels, including other Travel Lodges. The floor was not hoovered that morning and the toilet wasn't clean). The bath tub, the wash-basin and the beds were spotless. One (of the two ceiling lights) was not working and the heating wasn't on and took two hours to warm the room. One of the staff, German or East European, was not fluent in English, very abrupt and almost rude. Be prepared to pay extra for breakfast despite the website telling you that you only get cold buffet, you're getting nothing. You have to fork out £6 ppn for that cold continental breaky. We prefgerred the McDonalds just outside X-Cross. My advice, despite the convinient location, it's a big NO. |
