All around the hotel, and in our room, there were lovely little pictures of people sleeping peacefully and contentedly - the implication being that the hotel is so comfortable and quiet, you will soon be drifting off into Nodland. A shame, therefore, that the windows are only single glazed and that London, even in the City at the weekend, never really goes quiet. Whilst my earplugs ensured I got a fair bit of sleep, there were plenty of drunks outside shouting to ensure that both I and my partner were frequently disturbed.

The room itself was clean, the bed and pillows just about passable but it all felt pretty basic - well that's a Travelodge, I suppose. I had no contact with staff at all and felt I would have been hard pressed to find someone had I needed them. I have stayed in luxury hotels elsewhere in the country for less than this and had breakfast. It is pretty poor that so many hotels seek to charge you an extra extortionate amount for a few bits of egg and bacon.

Its a lodge for travellers. No pretentious or over fussyness. Hotel was clean. rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Shower nice and hot. If you want a base close to london liverpool st and dont want to be fussed over and what to do your own thing then this is the place. The bar/cafe was also very good and it had air/con !! Had a decent breakfast and evening meal cooked there. Loads of other resturant facilitys in the area. I do recoment the Thai Buddah on Middlesex St a stones throw from the hotel for a great thai meal. Check in and check out was a breeze. ok this didn't feel like a hotel where you were going to get pampered but that isnt what Travellodge is for. They have cut to the chase and delivered a basic service that is effecient. it does what it says on the tin. Liked: no fussyness - good clean facilities.
