| Rated 5 out of 5: Hotel is clean and convenient for City of London attractions. Bus stop immediately outside the door for city-bound buses and it's not much more than a 5 - 6 minute walk to Moorgate tube station. ("Tube" is English speak for 'Subway/Metro/Underground' for non-UK readers ! ) Old Street tube station is even closer. 30 - 35 minutes easy walking will take you to The Tower & Tower Bridge, The Monument, London Bridge, St Paul's etc. Staff were friendly, helpful and quick to remedy any problems. (Somehow we only had 1 bath towel between 2 of us but that was remedied immediately when we mentioned it at the front desk.) The rooms are best described as 'perfectly adequate' with no frills. Aside from the bed there is a TV and coffee/tea making facilities and storage space for your 'stuff' . . oh, and an en suite bath/shower room. We were more than a little surprised that we ate at the hotel's restaurant on each of the 3 evenings of our stay ~ the food was really good . . . at least of a much higher quality than we would have expected from a budget hotel. . . . and talking of a budget hotel -- we paid £108.00 for 3 nights B & B for 2 adults !!! Overall, we would certainly recommend this hotel, the only downside being that the cooked part of the breakfast reflected its 'budget hotel' origin, although there was an ample selection of fruit juices, cereals, coffee/tea, bread/toast, muffins, croissants and spreads. Also, it would have been very welcome if there had been a left luggage facility at the hotel as we arrived in London early morning and departed late evening and had to trudge around London all day (both days) with all our luggage. Rated 3 out of 5: My boyfriend and I stayed at Travelodge from dec 28 through January 2nd. The hotel itself is decent enough, but the breakfast there is horrible. We found several hairs in the scrambled eggs and the bacon is not crispy, it's more raw. The room we had was fine. The bed is actually very comfortable and soft! Also, we got three pillows. The things I would change was that the shower was not cleaned good enough when we got our room and the cups and spoons were used and not washed. And we only got one little piece of soap for 5 days. No hair dryer either, but that's just details. We never had supper/dinner at the hotel. The hotel's location is good enough, and we liked the financial district. We walked to Liverpool station, about a 5 minute walk, and we took the tube from there. Also, bus 23 goes directly from the Oxford Circus to Travelodge. That's convenient to know. We were on the 7th floor, so we were not disturbed by noise when we had the window open at night. Another thing that is important to mention is the elevators. The Travelodge has three elevators, one wasout of service during our entire stay. But most of the time, there was only one elevator in use. A bit irritating... But overall, Travelodge is decent enough for a limited time. Subway across the street have great subs that you can eat for breakfast! =) Rated 4 out of 5: Me and my friend went to London to celebrate her birthday. I'd bought her tickets to see 'Hairspray' at the theatre so we decided to make a weekend of it. The hotel was more that suitable for our needs and even exceeded my usual Travelodge expectations. As with all Travelodge's, there were limited 'home comforts', but the room was spacious with a flat screen TV, small wardrobe and tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom was a decent size and had a good sized shower. Both being apprehensive about using the tube, location was crucial to our choice of hotel. The Travelodge was ideal, only two tube stops away from Kings Cross station and on the Saturday, it only required one change of tube to get to Regent Street and Theatreland. We found Bank tube station easy to navigate from one line to the other and the tubes were frequent on both lines. The hotel was also very close to the tube for those late night walks home - simply use exit 4 out of Old Street tube station and follow the road ahead, the Travelodge is on your left less than 5 minutes walk away. All in all, we had a wonderful weekend and one we will definitely be doing again. Neither of us would have any hesitation in booking the Travelodge again - after all, we'd both rather spend our money in the pub than on an expensive hotel which we hardly spend any time in!! Rated 3 out of 5: For no frills this place is in a great location, Old Street station at one end and Moorgate (with access to other underground lines other than the Northern Line) at the other. You get what you pay for basic accommodation, tv and tea/coffee. If you want luxury go elsewhere and pay for it. We were hardly in the room and it was perfectly adequate for what we needed, a room to sleep in. Bed was comfortable, pillows nice, plenty of very hot water, a heater that could be turned off (I don't like the heat) and a window that could be opened. We were on the road side of the hotel (our choice) but a word of warning, you can hear the traffic outside and at busy times it is constant. Breakfast is buffet style, we only had one as we went to My Old Dutch at High Street Kensington for pancakes (see other review) on the other morning. There is a bus stop right outside which serves Liverpool Street and Waterloo stations. There are also loads of coffee shops on City Road and a Tesco Metro and a Sainsburys to the right of the hotel going up to Old Street Station. All in all a good experience at this Travelodge and I would use again. |

| Rating out of 10: 5 Date stayed: February 2010 review: We arrived during the night only to find that there were no parking facilities. We were directed to Finsbury NCP by Travelodge staff. I drove to the bottom of the ramp only to discover that the charges were £36 for 24hrs I had difficulty reversing back out as the ramp was steep. We drove around for ages trying to find another place to park. The next day we found another car park they charged us £20 for 24hrs. They said that Travelodge claim that there are parking facilities and usually direct their customers to them. I thought that this was quite deceptive as Travelodge hotels usually have parking facilities with reasonable rates. I won't be staying there again!!!!!!!!!! Rating out of 10: 8 Date stayed: March 2009 review: The hotel is well located within easy reach of two tube stations Old Street and Moorgate. This is one of the better Travelodge i have stayed in, the room was very clean and well maintained. Its a fairly new hotel located on a busy road as the internet warned us we did experience some slight noise from the club on sat and sun night this was from the back of the hotel and we were located on the seventh floor. There is a cafe bar for breakfast and evening meals which we found to be ok and good value. Next door to the hotel is a Tesco Metro/free cash machine and Starbucks. Overall i would recommend this hotel and stay here again, and just incase you didn't know they have some great rates on line if you book a few months in advance. Rating out of 10: 7 Date stayed: November 2007 review: The hotel provided a very clean, comfortable functional room. Unfortunately on check in we were given a room that still contained guests, not very good in terms of security. This is quite interesting given it's like Fort Knox getting in and out of the building/room! This also happened to a couple checking in before us, so it may be a regular issue. The hotel is easy to find and located a few minutes walk from Old Street tube station. |
