| Rated 4 out of 5: We stayed at the Travelodge for two nights in July 2010, after staying at a B & B in another part of London prior to this. We were accommodated in a double and family room, and found the accommodation very comfortable and clean. The family room in particular was quite roomy. The hotel is close to many tourist attractions, and whilst we were able to catch the tube into central London, we also found it an easy walk. The hotel obviously caters for families, is safe and secure, and close to many cafes. Staff were friendly and very helpful. We intend to make it our base for any future trips to London. The Travelodge Southwark was given 4 out of 5 by a guest: We stayed here for xmas. Could not fault the rooms at all. The heating packed up in our room and the staff could not have been more helpfull. As it could not be repaired there and then they chnaged our room..as with other reviews ideal location for southwark tube station. We found a great pub oposite Waterloo station called The Wellington..We ate a few times here, decent cheap food. We also ate at the turkish restaurant on the cut called Tas,again good cheapish food.Overall I would stay here again could not find fault with anything, and I am fussy! A guest rated the hotel 4 out of 5: My partner and I stayed at the Southwark Travelodge during our recent trip to London and found it to be extremely comfortable and quiet. We had a room which face onto the nearby railway lines and can honestly say that the amount of noise that can be heard through the windows is so small that you don't even notice it unless you are specifically listening for it. Our room had a medium sized flat screen TV and a reasonable sized bathroom and although the room was otherwise pretty basic, it is more than enough if you don't intend on spending much time in the room outside of sleeping. We found the bed and pillows to be very comfortable and clean. The only issue we had (and its not a major one and there is probably a very good reason for it) was that because we had made our 4 night bookings individually over time (trying to get the best rates) the receptionist would only activate our electronic card for one day at a time despite the fact that she knew we were staying 4 nights and that she had told us we did not have to change rooms and could leave our bags etc in the room. So each time we returned we would have to queue with everyone checking in, just to get our card reactivated - not a major issue, but something that could be improved in my opinion. In terms of the price, we managed to get the room for 29(was 19 before 10 pound early check in), 49, 79 and 79 pounds over the 4 nights. I believe that the price of this travelodge does not often drop due to it being very popular so if you see a price for a night t around the 49 pound mark you should probably grab it, as it is unlikely that the price will drop down into the 9/19/29 pound area apart from a couple of quieter nights during the week. The Travelodge is located approximately 2 minutes walk from the Southwark underground station which we found to be very convenient. On occasions we also walked through the underground to access the above ground network, which also gives good access to the London Eye area, provided you don't mind a 10-15 minute walk. Whilst the area isn't littered with restaurants we noted a couple of pubs very close by and there is a street not too far away which does have a few different small restaurants - follow your nose, its what we did :). There is a small convenience store right next door to the motel if you want a snack/drink/paper/whatever. We never felt insecure in the surrounding area of the Travelodge and i think those who have mentioned it in previous reviews may be speaking of a different Travelodge. All in all - would highly recommend this Travelodge to anyone. Whilst i can't compare it to anything else in the area (as we haven't been to those), i can tell you that i would happily stay here again (and probably will!) |
