| Rated 5 out of 5 : What a pleasant surprise you'll have at this lovely family run hotel, so well placed to M25 & north London. I was delighted with my stay from the moment I drove into the grounds, entered the hotel and was greeted by very friendly staff Rated 4 out of 5 : We booked a "country retreat" package for a little R&R. Included afternoon tea, dinner with wine, overnight and EB. Had been for afternoon tea at the hotel before and liked the look of it then, so decided to go back. Lovely staff, wonderful food, very nice, comfortable room. We stayed at the top of the house, and it was very secluded and quiet. All in all a very good deal. Only criticism I have is that we had to wait a little while to be served twice (at afternoon tea and dinner), but when we were, the staff were lovely. At dinner we were given a set menu and a a la carte menu but not told what we could/couldn't have on the CR package. Bit of embarrassment when we had chosen off the wrong menu, and made us feel a little uncomfortable, but soon sorted. A guest rated the hotel 4 out of 5 and commented: Recently stayed at this hotel and was most impressed with the lovely building and lovely grounds. The drive to the front door is delightful and so hard to believe that you are still in London. Reception was handled efficiently and the room was comfortable and sufficiently large. The decor was bright, the furnishings functional and the room was clean. Breakfast was pleasant although some of the food had been kept warm for a rather long time. Evening meals were excellent but very very pricey and no a la carte menu. The second night we ate in the bar.....same food but a lot less cost. This place would be delightful as a wedding venue as the grounds are extensive and well looked after. Staff are attentive and I would happily recommend the place but note there are some really nice eating places in nearby Cockfosters. | Rating out of 10: 10 Date stayed: July 2008 review: A beautiful hotel. excellent food. I mean EXCELLENT. Friendly staff, in fact the best I have come across-nothing was too much trouble. Lovely rooms(a little dated but i hear that they are refurbing) and the best was the garden. WOW thats all i can say. Oh yes there is a doorman. All in side London. I shall return. |
