| Rated 4 out of 5 : Hotel in nice country setting and only 10 minutes from the airport. Rooms have large beds and all the usual facilities perfect for a nights stay. The only down thing about the hotel was the menu, it was ala carte but very limited choice. Rated 2.5 out of 5 : The room was incredibly hot, explained by the missing TRV on the radiator. Opening the window to allow some cool air in also allowed the smell of the boiler's exhaust fumes in. The boiler was really noisy and all the these conspired to keep me from sleeping until about 2 am. The room was tatty, although the smell of paint suggested that it had recently been redecorated. Breakfast was good. Rated 4 out of 5 : The hotel was great, the staff were all friendly and very polite. The rrom was great although a little tired in places. We had a meal in the restaurant in the evening which was very good, but the breakfast was a little disappointing, some of the food came almost cold. But apart from that very good hotel A Whitehall Hotel guest rated the stay as 3 out of 5 and said: Was really un sure what this hotel would be like as have never flown from Stansted before and the reviews on here have been not very good so i was pleasently suprised when we pulled up! The hotel and its grounds were stunning and we actually sat out in the garden and had lunch before we left for the airport. We were provided with a taxi to and from the airport which we waited no longer than 10 mins either end for (call the hotel from airport to be collected) the hotel being about 15mins from Stanstead, couldnt have been any easier! The room that we stayed in was huge! The bed would easily have slept four and there was a double sofa bed for our teenage son! Ok so the hotel could do with a lick of paint here and there inside and a few floor boards creak but then its a character building not some modern Hilton hotel! Breakfast was wonderful the next day and was served by a really nice lady who couldnt do enough for you and kept checking you were ok or if you wanted more. Our car was left in the car park on site which was well lit and secure and we were not evan asked to leave our keys so we had no worries about it being left for the two weeks we were away. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who needs a great convieniently located hotel with airport parking to Stanstead. Anyone who was not impressed with this hotel was perhaps expecting a little too much!! We normally stay at the Ifield Court Hotel when flying from gatwick and this matched in comparrison to any of those who have stayed there. Rated 4.1 out of 5 : the room was very large and spacious Disliked: one table lamp broken the bathroom needed a new carpet it was very stained, bath panel broken, needed a complete new shower. tv needed replacing unable to watch reception awful. Overall: the staff were excellent, very friendly, the food was very good breakfast and main meals.lovely gardens very well maintained. the hotel is situated under the main flight path of stansted airport.no night flights though. Rated 4 out of 5 : Hotel in nice country setting and only 10 minutes from the airport. Rooms have large beds and all the usual facilities perfect for a nights stay. The only down thing about the hotel was the menu, it was ala carte but very limited choice. Rated 2.5 out of 5 : The hotel is adequate although difficult to find and a fair way from the airport. I telephoned the hotel before arriving and was assured that transfer arrangements would be made on my arrival even though this would be late at night. I duly confirmed my requirements to the night porter when checking in. There was no sign of a taxi as requested at 8.30am the next morning and the hotel receptionist rang the taxi company to confirm the car was on its way. After three more calls it became apparent that the taxi company had not correctly actioned the booking, not the hotel's fault but little consolation when my flight was about to close! A car eventually arrived over 45 minutes after the requested time, luckily I made my flight after a mad scramble but only because it was delayed. The taxi company showed little concern for my plight and should have acted far more urgently in arranging for another car although if they had recorded the original booking correctly this would not have been necessary. Not prepared to take a chance in future! Rated 4.5 out of 5 : We booked a standard double room but was given a lovely large spacious room. Maybe this was because the hotel was very quiet, especially for a Saturday. The price included our evening meal and breakfast which was very good value for money due to the discounted booking, and also very enjoyable. It wasnt a large menu but included some very nice dishes. The only problem was finding someone to serve us at the bar during the middle of the afternoon but it certainly didn't spoil our stay. |
