| Rated 4.2 out of 5: The friendliness of everyone from the owner to reception staff. It was so convenient for the Victoria district. Rated 4.5 out of 5: Nicely located for attractions around Victoria. Easy walking distance to station, coach station and several TfL Cycle Hire locations. Double en-suite room was small but clean and well appointed. Staff were very helpful and the PC in the dining room was useful when doing a bit of extra trip planning whilst there. Breakfast was fine with a good selection for the continental breakfast, though the cooked breakfast (whilst nice) did seem a bit small. Would definitely recommend the hotel. A guest who stayed at the Windermere Hotel gave the hotel 5 out of 5 and said: What a find! Lovely little hotel, very friendly welcome. Room was fine, bathroom had a good powerful shower. All very clean. Decided to eat in the hotel and my steak was superb, and the house wine (rioja) was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was a highlight - I stay in London hotels often and I'm not used to complimentary breakfasts, and when it is on offer it's usually cornflakes and muffins! I had the most delicious eggs benedict along with a well stocked buffet of fruit, pastries, cereals, cheeses, juice. Food on offer is simple, but beautifully cooked. When hearing on check out that I was going to a couple of meetings and then heading back to Victoria for the Gatwick express, the very helpful gent behind the desk offered to keep my case for me so I wouldn't have to carry it about. It's about a ten minute walk from Victoria Rail Stn, so most of London easily accessible with the Tube. It's homely rather than swish, but for this price beats the faceless chains hands down. Will definitely stay here again. Liked: Food and friendly staff. Good shower, Disliked: No bath (although believe some rooms do have baths) |
