Introduction: Sitting by the edge of Wimbledon Common
on Cannizaro Park stands the Cannizaro House Hotel. The surrounding public park
is open from 08.00 till dusk and contains a grade II listed formal gardens. The
hotel is convenient for the major tennis champions that take place in Wimbledon
and are located less than a mile form here. The Centre Court Shopping Centre is
a large covered mall one mile away on Queens Road. On the South side of
Wimbledon Common and 0.2 miles from the hotel is Southside House which is a
magnificent stately home and open to the public to view for a small charge.

The Cannizaro House Hotel is a Georgian Mansion and offers a warm and friendly
atmosphere. Remarkable for a hotel so close to central London is the seclusion
of the hotel from its city surroundings. With no other builds in the immediate
vicinity and just the the park and common on your doorstep. The hotel is over
300 years old with a wealth of history inside its doors. The hotel takes it name
from a former resident, the Sicilian Duke of Cannizaro and his Scottish wife,
who lived here from 1817 until 1841.
Each bedroom is individually designed and luxuriously decorated with the use of
soft tones, some with a park view. Each has its own signature wallpaper and
furnishings. The hotel offers a feature bedroom collection
with Four Poster Bedrooms and suites, several named after previous guests
including the Tim Henman and Oscar Wilde suites. Facilities in all rooms include
bathrooms (finished in marble and with supplied Elemis toiletries), air-conditioning,
heating, flat screen television with digital channels and Sky Sports, free WiFi internet access,
hairdryer, iron, personal safes plus, ironing facilities and tea and fresh coffee making facilities
(fair trade coffee). Each guest also gets a seasonal complimentary tipple.

Dining:
The Cannizaro House hotel also features the award winning 'Georgian Restaurant'. Here you can
indulge in fine wines and gourmet dinning. The dishes make use of organic,
seasonal and locally sourced produce. This sees local items such as St Ives Bay
mackerel, Berkshire free range suckling pig or Romney Marsh lamb on the menu.
Serves 'a La Carte' and a 'Simply' set price menu with a traditional roast on
Sundays.

The hotels Cocktail Bar has a relaxing atmosphere in a chic setting and features

History: The building actually dates back to
1705 when it was called Warren House. For a period of time it was let to members
of the aristocracy before being purchased by the home Secretary and Secretary of
State for War, Viscount Melville. He lived here from the end of 18th century to
the early 19th century.
The hotel is named after the Duke of Cannizaro who was resident here between
1817 and 1841.
Many top players have stayed at this hotel with Pat Cash, John McEnroe and Boris
Becker all naming it the 'lucky hotel'.
