Description: The Crowne Plaza Hotel London City is located in Blackfriars which is located between the City of London and the West end Tourist areas and very close to the River Thames. It is actually opposite Blackfriars rail station. Nearest major tourist areas include places such as Soho and Covent Garden, known the world over, and which are just a few minutes away by taxi. The hotel is places very near to Blackfriars Bridge which is just 150 yards away directly south. Its actually why the road the Crowne Plaza resides on is called New Bridge Street. This means you have excellent access to the south side of the River Thames and South London. Areas in the south often popular with visitors include Southwark, waterloo and Lambeth. Attractions on the southern side include South Bank Pier (0.3 miles), Tate Modern (0.3 miles), Shakespeare's Globe Theatre (0.4 miles), National Theatre (0.5 miles), Southwark Cathedral (0.7 miles), London Dungeon (0.9 miles),  The London Eye (0.9 miles) and HMS Belfast (1.1 miles). Guest floors are only accessible if you hold a checked in guest room key. High speed internet access is additionally available in all bedrooms. Additional facilities include 2 telephone lines, Mini bar, Tea and coffee making facilities, Bathrobes and hairdryers, Iron, ironing board and trouser press.

Refettorio restaurant: Award winning Italian Cuine. Refettorio located on the upper ground floor.
Refettorio is open Monday to Friday for lunch from 12.00pm with last orders at 2.30pm, and Monday to Saturday for dinner from 6.30pm with last orders at 10.30pm.
Chinese Cricket Club: (replaces Benugo Café & deli) Located on the Upper Ground Floor this venue is open for lunch and dinner. Serving Sichuan and Dim Sum specialities served with a modern twist. Asian dishes from a chef who likes to experiment with different textures, flavours and ingredients.
NineteenBelow: (replaces Bar 606) Destination bar. Located on the Lower Ground Floor this is the latest bar to open in the Crowne Plaza London City. Serving cocktails made from the freshest ingredients, larger champagne, malt whiskey and spirits selection, as well as smooth tunes from DJ's and musicians, Wednesday thru Friday.
Lobby Lounge: Located on the Ground Floor and serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. All day dining from a range of dishes from Roast Beef to traditional Club Sandwiches. With its complimentary wireless internet access its a place where guests can simply relax and work or surf.
Crowne Plaza Club Lounge: Located on the 6th Floor offering complimentary drinks and canapés throughout the day and breakfast served 07.00 till 10.00. Can only be used by Crowne Plaza Club floor guests.

The meeting facilities include an Executive Boardroom and main conference suites for up to 180 delegates seated theatre style.
The Business Centre has four individual workstations with a choice of plug-in laptop facilities or static PC. The Centre provides secretarial and business support services, including high-speed Internet access for delegates and residents. There is even a dedicated interview room within this area for our business guests to use.

The Crowne Plaza City also features a fitness gallery gym (free for guests) and a sauna to help you relax after a busy day. This is a private gym for residents only. All public areas are air-conditioned. 24 hour front reception.

Comment:
In July 2011 the Crowne Plaza London City became the first London hotel to trial anti-snoring bedrooms. With the use of soundproofed walls (eggbox-style foam to reduce noise), sound-absorbing headboard, an anti-snoring pillow and a device to make people sleep on their sides.
Background: Refurbished 2007.
Bought in July 2008 by Dubai businessman Marg Galadari for £85 million pounds.
Sold in January 2007 to Grupo Statuto, an Italian real estate company, for £81 million pounds. Crowne Plaza retains management under the 17 year deal.
