Introduction: The Dukes Hotel London is centrally located
between the grounds of
Buckingham
Palace and Piccadilly. This area is known as St James's and is one of the
most exclusive areas in London. Piccadilly itself has great shopping with many
famous names such as Fortnum and Mason, used by the late Diana Princess of Wales
and just on the northern side is the sought after area of Mayfair. Even closer
to the hotel is
St James's
Palace which was home to the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen mother. On the
other side of St James Palace is Green Park, St James Park and Buckingham
Palace. Most of London's attractions are easily accessible from here, many
within walking distance. The hotel is at the West end of Pall Mall while at the
East end of pall Mall is
Trafalgar
Square, famous for Nelsons Column and the now removed pigeons. Its just a
1/3rd of a mile walk to very heart of London's nightlife and its theatreland
which centres around Piccadilly Circus. Bond Street where you will find some of
the best jewellery and designer fashion shops in the UK is 0.2 miles to the
north. The hotel is actually located in a small and quiet side street that is a
dead end, meaning traffic noise is mush lower than other central areas. Some
local places of interest include Royal Academy of Arts (0.2 miles), Michael
Faraday Museum (0.3 miles), Trocadero
Centre (0.4 miles) and the
Queens Gallery
(0.4 miles).
