Introduction:
The Express Wimbledon South is located in Colliers Wood and is a 2 minute walk
from Colliers Wood tube station. From the station into central London is 30 minutes. The
local areas main shopping takes place at the Savacentre supermarket. At the time of
its opening it was the largest supermarket in Europe and still remains one of
the largest. More extensive shopping is located in Wimbledon proper at the
Centre Court Shopping Centre which is just over 1 mile from the hotel. London
two largest airports can be conveniently travelled from or to the hotel using
the M25. For Heathrow you link to the M25 via the A3 dual carriageway and for
Gatwick you use the A24 or A23. Expect the journeys to both take around 40
minutes in normal traffic. In actual fact the closest airport is London Biggin
Hill where its possible to charter an aircraft to any worldwide destination.
The airport is perhaps best known though for its annual air show which started in 1963 and can
attract near to 100,000 spectators. The air show here is the largest privately
run Air Show anywhere in Europe. The hotel is very convenient for the
Wimbledon
Tennis Championships which is just 1.8 miles from here. The All England Tennis
club where the event is held has a museum which is worth a trip any time of the
year. Other local sporting arenas include Wimbledon Football Club and greyhound
stadium which is 4.3 miles way. Streatham has an ice skating rink located just
over 2 miles from here and the Crystal Palace National Sports Stadium is 4.5
miles away. Definitely worth a visit during your stay if you
