Introduction: The Stanhill Court Hotel is located to the
north west of Gatwick. A wonderful setting with the hotel set within 35 acres of
ancient woodland and the Sussex countryside with roaming and grazing sheep and
deer. The building has a long history
originally being built in 1881 when it was used as a family residence. The
original construction was a Scottish baronial style featuring halls with wood
panelling as well as in the minstrel room along with stained glass windows. The
nearest populated area is the small village of Charlwood with a population of
just over 2000. The village is just under half a mile from the hotel and where
you will find three local pubs and restaurant.
Hotel:
The Stanhill Court hotel is a former winner of the AA award for best romantic
hotel. Although close to Gatwick airport its thankfully not on the flight path.
Bedrooms are all individual in nature with in-room facilities including Alarm
Clock, Heating, satellite TV, telephone, trouser press, free
high speed internet access, work desk, full length mirror, Hairdryer and Tea/Coffee Maker. Many of the rooms
have a four poster bed. Rooms are all en-suite with a bath or shower.
There is a limited room service menu. Daily maid service.
Dining:
Restaurant 1881: AA rosettes holder. Named after the year the original house was finished. With wood
panelling and a real fire that is lit during the winter months. Sevres an
international menu with fresh ingredients along with a choice from over 200
wines. open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and open to both residents and the
general public.
Open: 07.30 till 09.30 (weekends 08.30 till 10.00), noon till 14.00 (weekends
12.30 till 14.30), 19.00 till 21.30.
The Library: can be hired as a private dining venue suitable for between 8 and
16 diners. Afternoon tea is served in the Library where you can enjoy views over
the grounds.
Bar: styled after a Spanish courtyard.
The Stanhill Court hotel hosts wedding ceremonies and can handle 700 guests in the banqueting
room for breakfast. The wedding licence covers 180 guests in a civil ceremony
and the 700 guests for the wedding breakfast.
The 35 acre estate offers superb walks and a wide range of sporting and leisure
facilities. The hotel also boasts an open air amphitheatre complete with stage
and lighting in its woodland grounds with the option to cover it with a marquee.
Please note that the hotel does not have a lift. Some bedrooms are located on
the ground floor.

Background:
In Autumn 2006 the Stanhill Court Hotel hotel added the Colas Wing which gave an extra 20 bedrooms
along with the Sofia garden room with its glass roof.
