| Introduction:
The Hilton London Metropole Hotel
is located on the Edgware Road (a busy main road) on the
Northern edge of central London. This is the Northern end of the half mile
section of the Edgware Road which runs from
Marble Arch up to the Western Avenue
A40 flyover (the Westway). At the Marble Arch end the road is full of shops,
boutiques and restaurants geared towards the Middle Eastern visitor. At the
North end the type of shops become more conventional and include a major
supermarket. To the West of the hotel is just 0.4 miles from
Paddington Station
from where you can catch the
Heathrow Express non-stop train service to Heathrow
Airport. To the North of the hotel are residential areas such as
Maida Vale and
St Johns Wood. To the East is the area of Marylebone which has a popular High
Street, not surprisingly named Marylebone High Street. Other nearby attractions
and landmarks include the
Alexandra Fleming laboratory (0.2 miles),
Hyde Park
(0.4 miles), Oxford Street (0.6 miles), Lords Cricket Ground and
MCC Museum (0.6
miles), Madame Tussauds (0.7 miles),
Wallace Collection (0.7 miles) and the
Abbey Road Studios (1 mile). Rooms: The Hilton Kensington is a large hotel that has 1058 contemporary bedrooms with full air conditioning, ironing board, telephone, minibar, cable TV with pay movies and games, writing desk, hairdryer, trouser press, tea and coffee making facilities, clock and high speed internet access. Room service is available 24 hours. Dining: Sports Bar: Opened in September 2007 after a £900,000 refurbishment. With an Informal atmosphere and 50 seat capacity. Modern and contemporary with an alcove area and areas with sofas and several large screen televisions showing major sports events. Serves a range of drinks from beers and wines to cocktails. Also serves a bar menu. Open noon till 23.00 (from 13.00 weekends). Fiamma Restaurant: 322 seats. Part of the sports bar refurbishment. Fresh contemporary colours are the setting for this restaurant serving a Mediterranean a la carte menu and theatre cooking. The menu options include fresh fish, pizzas, pastas and grills, freshly made salads and desserts. Open for breakfast, Lunch and Dinner 06:30till 22:30 (till 23.30 weekends). The Nippon Tuk: is an oriental Bar and Restaurant which can be found up on the twenty third level. Here you can enjoy wonderful views over London. Sophisticated setting with a 90 seat capacity and serves Eastern cuisine with dishes that include Sushi, Sashimi, Tempura, Noodle and Seafood. Open Monday: 18:00 - 23:00, Tuesday to Saturday: 12:00 - 23:00. The Lounge Bar: is located on the ground floor and has a capacity for 50. Here you can relax in the spacious leather sofa seats. Drinks include a large range of wines and cocktails. The bar is open to the general public as well as to Metropole hotel guests but is guests only from 23.00 till 02.00. Also serves light meals and snacks. Opens at 10.00. WiFi available here. Cafe Cino: In the hotel lobby on the ground floor and the place for an informal coffee or breakfast. Also serves light meals throughout the day. WiFi internet can be accessed at this point and leather sofas make for a relaxing setting. Open 06.30 till 22.00 (weekends from 07.30). More: The hotel caters very much to the business traveller with 40 meeting and conference rooms that can accommodate up to 1500 delegates. In all there is a massive 46,000 sq ft of conference area catering for up to 1500 delegates. The hotel offers a dedicated business centre where the facilities include copy and fax, WiFi Internet access, Projector, Secretarial Services and computers. The hotel has its own fitness room with a full range of cardio and exercise equipment and 12.5 meter heated indoor swimming pool. The onsite LivingWell Health Club also has a sauna and steam room as well as a sports shop which includes suitable clothes if needed. Open: weekdays 06:00 - 22:00, weekends: 08:00 - 20:00. A feature of the hotel is the marble floor in the lobby. All areas of the hotel enjoy air-conditioning. |

| Background: The Metropole is the largest business hotel in the UK and the second largest in Europe as a whole. At the end of November 2006 the hotel was sold to the Tonstate real estate Group for £417 million. The deal also included the Birmingham Metropole. The hotel retains its Hilton branding and management while Tonstate take over the work of renovations. |
