Introduction: One Aldwych London is centrally located on
the edge of
Covent Garden
and at the end of the Strand where many of London's best known theatres can be
found. There are no less than 18 theatres within half a mile. Covent Garden is
one of London's most popular areas with tourists both at night and during the
day. Here you will find the covered piazza with its famous street buskers, a
busy market and an area brimming with restaurants, bars, museums and nightlife.
Just a short walk away from the hotel is the River Thames. Very much a working
River with a river taxi service and always many boats and barges passing. Just
on the south side of the River, some 0.4 miles form the hotel, is the South
Bank. Here you will find a range of amenities including galleries and theatres
(Hayward Gallery, National Theatre). The One Aldwych Hotels is also great for anyone
needing access into the City of London (aka the financial district, Square Mile)
with the adjoining fleet street leading into St Paul's and the city and opposite
Aldwych is the Victoria Embankment which leads on to the Docklands and Canary
Wharf. At the opposite end of the Strand is
Trafalgar
Square,
Regents Street, Whitehall (leading to the
Houses of
Parliament) and the grounds of
Buckingham
Palace. Aldwych itself is a very busy road on weekdays but this means haling
a taxi is never a problem.
Some local places of interest include the Courtauld Institute Gallery (leading
centre for study, history and conservation of art and architecture)(0.05 miles),
London
Transport museum (0.1 miles), St Clement Dames Church (Sir Christopher Wrens
RAF Central Church)(0.2 miles),
Cleopatra's
Needle (0.2 miles) and
Sir John
Soames Museum (0.4 miles).
