Introduction: The Radisson Edwardian Vanderbilt Hotel
London is located in the fashionable Kensington/South Kensington area. Actually
on the Cromwell Road (A4), this is a major road link into central London and is
busy as most times. However it does provide a direct link out to Heathrow
Airport making for a convenient run if arriving or departing by taxi/car. Just
across the road is the Gloucester Road tube station, which being on the
Piccadilly line, provides a link to
Heathrow Airport. Also close by are the shops of Knightsbridge (home to
Harrods department store) and Hyde Park with its wide open spaces and landscaped
themed garden areas. Just along the road from the hotel is a large Sainsbury's
supermarket. Many attractions are nearby such as the Natural History Museum (0.2
miles), Science Museum (0.3 miles), Victoria and Albert Museum (0.4 miles) and
the Royal Albert Hall (0.4 miles).
Hotel:
The Radisson Vanderbilt is the former grande home of the Vanderbilt family.
Many original features remain including stain glass windows, wood panelled rooms
and its elegantly painted ceiling in the hotel lobby. The hotel is actually made
up of a converted row of residences and is a grade II listed building. The style
of the hotel gives it the feel of an English country home. Real fireplaces and
original works of art have been added to the hotel decor to bolster that feel.
Bedrooms remain true to the warm English country house ambience featuring
mahogany furniture, rich fabrics and crisp cotton bed linen. Bathrooms are clad
with Sicilian marble, shower massage and Jacob Delafon bathware. In-room
amenities include satellite television with Pay-per-view Movies,
internet, international sockets, Air Conditioning, Coffee/Tea maker, Direct Dial
Telephone, Hair Dryer, Iron/Ironing Board, Mini Bar, safe and trouser press.

The Vanderbilt restaurant is the 68-86 Bar & Restaurant offering British
cooking with influences from the Pacific Rim in a light and airy setting. The
restaurant has wooden floors and is decorated with objects d'art.

22.00 (Sunday from 18.30).
The bar has a specially modern contemporary glass bar.
