Ramada London Docklands Excel is located close to
both the Excel Centre and London City Airport, and within a few
minutes by road from the Docklands/Canary Wharf area. The hotel
is about a 300 yard walk from the East entrance of the Excel
exhibition centre. This area gives access to east London as well
as into the City of London itself via the dual carriageway (A13) that
runs right through the docklands towards Tower Bridge. Also convenient for the
O2 arena/Millennium Dome which is 1.5 miles away on the southern side of the
River Thames (accessed via DLR and canning Town). Its also a similar distance to Green Street and its Asian shops to
the south and the massive (60 acres) Gallions Reach shopping centre to the east.
The main central tourist areas are some 7 mile to the west (around 40 minutes by
public transport). Hotel: The Ramada hotel and suites London docklands has a spectacular waterfront setting with stunning views over London's docklands. Ever bedroom is air-conditioned. The standard rooms all come with high speed internet, TV with satellite Channels and pay movies, wake-up calls, desk, phone with voicemail, ironing facilities and tea/coffee maker. All rooms are en-suite and have a power shower, hairdryer and branded toiletries. The hotel has 71 suites with a Queen bed or twin beds. They have a separate living and dining area and a fitted kitchenette area. Some have their own balcony. Extras with suites include a Breakfast box in room, Shopping service, discounted rate for laundry, reduced internet fee, Special "Home From Home" Menu available and safe. Both the lounge and the living room have a TV. Bathrooms have both a bath and a shower. Floors have lift/elevator access. 24 hour room service. Dining: The Stresa Restaurant is based on a modern Italian inspiration. has an easy, informal atmosphere and bright, comfortable, chic surroundings equally fitting for a midweek lunch, relaxed evening or Sunday lunch with family or friends. Wall to ceiling windows span one side of the restaurant framing fantastic views over royal Victoria dock and in the summer months you can choose to eat Al Fresco. Seasonal home style menu which includes pizzas, risottos, pastas grilled meats and fish. Breakfast buffet includes fresh juices, fruits, home-baked croissants, pastries, cheese, cold meats, and cappuccino or tea. Open: 6.30 till 10.30 (weekends till 11.30), noon till 15.30, 18.00 till 22.00. The Oval bar is a classic setting, cool and airy with oak panelling, for a get-together day or night. Offering a wide selection of international beers, spirits, wine, coffee (includes organic fair trade), cocktails and juices. Sit, relax, chat in the lounge or enjoy the livelier feel of the bar area with large chairs and sofas. Also serves an extensive bar 11.00 till closing time. WiFi on the ground floor. Open: from 10.00 (15.00 weekends). For business guests there are two meeting rooms as well as fax and copy facilities. The hotel also has an exercise room. All rooms and suites benefit from fast internet broadband connection. |

| Comment: First opened in 2003. Hotel is owned by Shiva Hotels Ltd. Interestingly when the hotel first opened it was given the name Ramada Docklands/Excel. Later the Excel part was dropped. This is curious because Excel was a more accurate location as the Docklands is really about a mile away and is the area shown on map as the Isle of Digs. |
