Swan Hotel - Thaxted

Description: The Swan Hotel is located in the small village of Thaxted, some 5.6 miles from Stansted Airport. Thaxted has a long history going right back to the 1300's and is the home of the famous Morris Men dancers with the origins  of the Morris dancers organisation dating back to a meeting in Thaxted in 1934. Its a small town of less than 3000 residents. Perhaps best now as the home of Dick Turpin, the famous highwaymen from the 1700's whose cottage still survives. The local church has a 180 feet high spire. Local attractions include Thaxted Windmill (0.1 miles), Mole Hall Wildlife Park (3.8 miles), Great Bradfield Cottage Museum (4 miles) and Audley End Miniature Railway (6.9 miles).

The Swan Hotel is a traditional style English coaching Inn. These Inns go way back to the days when long journeys were carried out my teams of horses and provided accommodation for guests and drinking and rest points for the horses. The hotel has a relaxing atmosphere with elegant décor.
All bedrooms are en-suite with a trouser press, hairdryer, television, iron/ironing board, and tea and coffee making facilities.

The hotel also has an onsite restaurant serving a traditional English menu of home cooked food along with other varied dishes.
For any guests who arrive after the kitchen has closed a choice of sandwiches are available on request.
Open:  noon till 15.00, 18.00 till 21.00, Saturday noon till 21.00, Sunday noon till 20.00.
The hotel bar features an open fireplace and serves real ales. Patio Area (with heated Jumbrella).
Open:: 11.00 till 23.00 (till midnight Friday/Saturday), noon till 23.00 Sunday.
(The bar closing time for residents is at the discretion of the Manager)

There are 2 function rooms suitable for parties (up to 60 guests) of business meetings (15 conference style).
Wakeup up calls can be arranged with the reception.
