Introduction: Swissotel The Howard Hotel enjoys a location opposite the banks of the River Thames at the eastern edge of central London and at the start of the financial areas (City of London). Its actually sites in a small Crescent between the Strand (part of London's Theatreland) and Victoria Embankment. A nice location at its somewhat sheilded from the hustle and bustle of the busy surrounding areas while being within walking distance of some of the most popular tourist areas. These include Covent Garden (0.2 miles) with its famous Piazza and many bars and Soho (0.7 miles) famous for its its adult orientated clubs. The River Thames itself affords the opportunity to walk along its banks on dedicated paths or take a river tour or use the river bus service (from Waterloo Millennium Pier). At the far end of the Strand you'll find Trafalgar Square (0.7 miles) which itself is adjacent to Leicester square. If you require access to the City of London (square mile) or out to the docklands then this again is a good location as the Victoria Embankment is part of a straight run by road (A3211, A1203). Some selected local places of interest include St Clement Dames Church (0.1 miles) (built by St Sir Christopher Wren on a spot where a church has stood for over 1000 years. This is the central Church for the RAF), Courtauld Institute Gallery (0.1 miles) (leading centre of study for history and conservation of art and architecture and houses a popular collection), National Theatre (0.3 miles), London Transport Museum (0.3 miles), South Bank (0.3 miles), Cleopatra's Needle (0.3 miles) and the Hayward Gallery (0.4 miles).

Hotel:
The Howard Hotel is a contemporary hotel with a sophisticated level of service and lavish interiors. The hotel was built in a French Style. A feature of the hotel is colourful Courtyard Garden and its waterfall.
The bedrooms all have individually controlled air Conditioning with coffee (espresso machine) and tea (varied selection) facilities, minibar, desk/lamp, high speed internet access, three direct dial telephones with voicemail, Hairdryer, safe, iron/ironing Board, minibar, Data Port, Refrigerator, entertainment system and Cable television with pay movies. The en-suite facilities include a shower massage, bathrobes and top brand toiletries.
Most of the deluxe rooms offer a separate seating area.
The hotel suites (all on the hotels top floor look out over the Thames) have a modern style and offer balconies. There are 2 double bedroom suites and 10 with a single bedroom.
All bedrooms have a view either of the River Thames (and the London Eye) or the hotels garden courtyard.
Room service is 24 hours (includes options for picnic basket). All bedrooms have king sized beds.
 
Dining:
Jaan: Stylish, elegant restaurant with a contemporary minimalist style. The menu is contemporary fine French cuisine with an Asian slant. A specially selected wine list offers win by the glass. The decor includes full height windows and views over the hotels courtyard. When the weather allows meals can be enjoyed outside.
Open: 7:00 am till 10:30 (Sunday 8:00 till 11:00), noon till 14.30 (closed weekends), 17.45 till 22.30 (closed Sunday).
Temple Bar: Perfect for a pre-theatre drink of to sit back and recover from the hurly burly of a day out visiting the sites of London. The bar is located right next to the Courtyard which it opens up onto. Extensive range of drinks including aged whisky, Dry Martini, Champagne cocktails, chilled beers, refreshing aperitifs and a selection of fine wines. Traditional atmosphere.
Open: 11:00 till 01.00.
Mauve Lobby Lounge: Light, airy and stylish serving express breakfast early in the morning, morning coffees, light lunches and afternoon teas. In the evening the bar serves a range of drinks such as champagne, wine (by the glass) and cocktails.
Open: 7:00 till 01.00.

Business travellers will be pleased to note the hotel has a dedicated business centre along with two meeting rooms that handle a maximum of 120 guests.
