Introduction: The Thistle Westminster enjoys a position a short stroll from Victoria train station (just to the rear of the hotel and home to the Gatwick Express) and at the gateway to the grounds of Buckingham Palace (0.39 miles) (home to the British Monarchy and bounded by the open spaces of Green Park and St James's Park). This is a central London location just to the west of centre. The adjacent Victoria Street has a good range of shops, restaurants and bars and leads down to Parliament Square (0.8 miles) where you will find the Houses of Parliament (home to the British Government) and Westminster Abbey (many high profile ceremonies are held here). The actual location of the hotel is at the junction of Buckingham Palace Road, Bressenden Place and Victoria Street and is a busy area in terms of traffic most times of the day. The west End (where the majority of the best nightlife is to be found) starts just beyond Buckingham Palace, some 0.9 miles to the north east. There are some well known theatres close to the hotel such as Westminster Theatre (0.11 miles), Victoria Palace (0.11 miles) and the Apollo Victoria (0.13 miles). Upmarket shopping can be found within 0.7 miles at Sloane Street and the Kings Road, Chelsea. Other local places of interest include the Queens Gallery (0.14 miles), Westminster Cathedral (0.23 miles), Wellington Arch (0.44 miles) and St James's Palace (0.5 miles).
