Introduction: The Travelodge London Liverpool Street is
located in the heart of the City of London. Close to Liverpool Street Station
(home to the
Stansted Express train service to Stansted Airport) between Bishopsgate and
Aldgate. This part of London is part of the financial district and to the eats
of the main tourist areas. In the past few years a growing number of bars and
clubs have opened in the surrounding area (many immediately around the hotel)
but it remains relatively quiet come weekends compared to the main area like the
west end. Just 200 yards along by Devonshire Row is a Tesco Metro store for
grocery and other supplies with extended opening hours. Just 300 yards to the
east is Whitechapel Road and Commercial Road. Plenty of shops along here but the
areas are very much geared towards the garment fashion industry with many
factories and outlets located along here. Just off of Whitechapel Road is Brick
Street where amongst the Asian shops are all night bagel cafes popular taxi
drivers and visitors alike. Even closer to the hotel, actually in the next
street is Middlesex Street, home to the oldest street market in London (over 400
years old) and known as Petticoat Lane Market where fashion bargains are to be
found. 0.3 miles to the north is Old Spitalfields Market, worth a visit is this
converted former meat market now home to a large number of shops and cafes.
Local attractions include Whitechapel Art Gallery (0.3 miles),
Tower of
London (0.4 miles), Royal Armouries and Fusiliers Museum (0.5 miles),
Monument (0.5
miles) and the
Barbican
Arts Centre (0.6 miles).
