London Luton Airport is
situated to the north of London, its main commuter routes are the M1 and M25
Motorways and the A5 dual carriageway. The M1 connects to Hendon, Brent Cross in
North London at its Southern end, while linking to the north of England when
taken North bound. The M25 is the orbital motorway encircling greater London.
There is a coach service from the airport into London, the Luton and District
757 Greenline coach. This stops at several places on route to terminating at
Victoria Station in central London. For other England destinations there are
several National Express coaches running from the airport

rank outside. For train journeys there is a First Connect train service running from
Luton Airport Parkway Train Station with a coach shuttle service (Free with through Ticket to airport, £1 if you have a rail ticket, £1.50 with no ticket) running between the airport and
station. The shuttle bus between the airport and station takes around 10
minutes. Long term car parks must be pre-booked and all car parks have a
courtesy bus service to the terminal.
The airport first opened on July 16th 1938 and provided a base for fighter
aircraft during the Second World War. London Luton airport is used by many well
known budget airlines as well as larger scheduled operators. Flights are available
from, amongst others, the likes of easyJet, First Choice, Flybe, Helios Airways,
Helvetic Airways, Monarch Scheduled, Ryanair, Swe Fly, Thomas Cook, Thomson and
Wizz Air. Passenger numbers continue to grow with over 8 million passengers
using the airport in 2005.
