This is a largely residential area, very much an upmarket and sought after area with a cosmopolitan population. There is a large number of Americans resident here due in large part to the local American School. St Johns Wood NW8 has one of the UK, most expensive and affluent roads at 'Avenue Road'. This leads from Swiss Cottage at its North end down to Regents Park at its South end. St Johns Wood High Street is busy, popular and has a chic feel. There's bars, cafes, shops and banking facilities here. To the North is Swiss Cottage which is the start of the Finchley Road. This is a busy main road with a large shopping area including the covered O2 centre with its multi cinema complex. Also to the North is another upmarket area at Hampstead with its popular High Street dubbed Hampstead Village.
