Bayswater takes its name from the main road that runs between
Marble Arch
to
Notting Hill Gate,
and is also part of the A40 which goes all the way out to and past
Oxford and is part of the City of Westminster. Its also parallel with the North side of
Hyde Park. Located within the W2
postcode which takes in several areas and is mostly widely referred to
as Paddington. However there are several well defined sub-areas such as
Queensway, Westbourne Grove, Lancaster gate and Bayswater itself. Bayswater has a large
middle eastern population and some very expensive houses and apartments,
especially the ones facing Hyde Park. Nearest main shopping is at
Queensway but its not much further to the chic and upmarket shopping and
amenities of Notting Hill, including a cinema. The station is actually
on Queensway itself with the covered Whitley's shopping mall just yards
to the North.
