South Kensington is a very popular and upmarket area reflected in
both the housing and the shopping in that area. It probably marks the
start of the heart of central London proper as you hit London from the
West and come in along the A4 dual carriageway. Its within the SW7
postcode which takes in areas such as Kensington, Knightsbridge, Queens
Gate and parts of
Chelsea.
Indeed its within the London borough of the Royal Borough of Kensington
and Chelsea. There are no actual boundaries to mark out South Kensington
and is best defined as centred on the tube station and stretching out to
the Royal Albert Hall to the North, Gloucester Road to the West, Fulham

such as cafes and bars. South Kensington was largely an agricultural

one of the grandest looking buildings in London and a magnificent piece
of architecture. This area is referred to locally as 'South Ken'.
