Each year inspectors for the Tea Councils 'Tea Guild' anonymously take
tea in a large number of establishments, not just in London but across
the country. The tea rooms and hotels are then marked on a criteria that
includes service, décor, ambience, value for money and range and quality of the teas offered.
The votes and scores are then counted and the top establishment is given
the accolade of winner of 'Best Afternoon Tea'.
