Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting! Initially our room was rather dark and claustrophobic in a basement with a view of fake ivy. No bath. Fortunately the blind string broke so we were given a much nicer room. We didn\u2019t eat here. Breakfast is a rather expensive upgrade. My only whinge is the lack of training on reception. A sweet overworked young lady initially came across as stressed and unhappy, whilst other colleagues bickered over the other terminal. Hotels don\u2019t seem to understand the importance of the \u2018check in experience\u2019 and the initial welcome. Had to wait ages to check out as the same lady was on the phone without any colleagues around. I don\u2019t blame her. She was very helpful when dealing with our room! Clearly the management are running this on a shoestring and need to invest in staff.

Went today for lunch and managed find a table outside but wish we hadn't as service and attitude from the staff was diabolical. Ordered a club sandwich, a salad and two bowls of French fries and after a 40 minute wait just the club sandwich arrived, so asked the waitress who had taken the original order where the rest of our order was and she just shrugged, said she would ask the kitchen and let us know. She never returned so we got up and left after getting our credit card refunded for the food we never received. No apologies at all. \n\nDidn't have the time to give a true and lengthy critical review of this dreadful establishment but just to say avoid.

Spent 5 nights here for the tennis. Rooms old and creaky but so much potential. Bistro is agonisingly slow. It\u2019s wimbledon right ? You would have max staff but we put up with it a couple of times. Tonight we wanted to have dinner on the terrace adjacent the restaurant. We were told it\u2019s not possible as were a couple of tennis official I overheard inquire to do the same thing. However, a table is now set up beside us for 3 including a 3 year old and they are being served dinner. Again we inquire about doing the same. We are told that is not possible because we don\u2019t have a child We have been sitting here now for 4 hours watching the tennis on my iPad and in all that time we have not been offered so much as a glass of water. We were told to go to the bar if we wanted a drink. On our first night we were told to wait 10 minutes in the lobby and they would reset a table. 50 minutes later after watching other walk ups we re enquired. Anyway besides terrible restaurant and bar service, if not having toilet paper replaced or tea bags replaced each day, oh and then their were no tissues the place is great.

Stayed for a night with dinner. Comfortable spacious room, food very ordinary, although restaurant staff helpful and pleasant. Only one very overworked barman meant a considerable wait for pre-dinner cocktails. But what really spoilt it was the \u201Cwelcome\u201D received at reception: curt, monosyllabic, no eye contact. Management needs to get a grip! A shame, as this is a lovely hotel in a great location, and could be very good.

This hotel is in the most beautiful position with stunning views but went there for lunch on Friday, the staff are rude, unhelpful, difficult and badly trained. The food is average, you have to order your own drinks at the bar, then your food at the bar, then your coffee at the bar - seriously Hotel du Vin - and all because it was a boiling day and was sitting at one of their 5 outside tables - no wonder the place was empty on a Friday lunchtime - when the rest of Wimbledon Village was heaving and most other places were full!

I was a regular diner at the Hotel du Vin Wimbledon since it was close by my home and looked out nicely onto Canizzaro park. I also liked its easy accessibility because one of my dining friends is in a wheelchair. The food always seemed light, fresh and thoughtful. so, last night when I went for dinner with my wife I was shocked at just how bad it had become in the few months since my last visit.\n\nThe service was always slow but at least when the food arrived it was nice. Yesterday it was slow and unrewarding. The vichyssoise soup was tasteless, the duck breast tough and badly presented. To be fair they cancelled my bill when I complained but that was not the point, I didn't want a free meal, I wanted a nice dinner with my wife.\n\nIf they don't get their act together then all the elegant refurbishment will be wasted.

I gifted to my adult daughter and her boyfriend last Sunday night a dinner, bed and breakfast package in one of the suites at \u00A3270 as a landmark birthday present. Dinner took close to 2 hours to be served, in fact they only ordered two courses, so this compounded the length of this delay. Throughout the whole meal the waiting staff were rude and ignored them on several occasions. The television in the suite did not work, when my daughter asked for it to be fixed, she was told this was not possible as the handyman had left for the night. She was not offered any apology or alternative. She also requested if it was possible to have breakfast in the room and the man on reception made her feel as if this was an unreasonable and idiotic request. To say that he was flippant and patronising is an understatement What has happened to the Hotel Du Vin brand? It's gone seriously downhill. We will not be booking anything there again.

First impressions from outside are good. Unfortunately on arrival check in desk staff very cold and monosyllabic. Went to the bar after arriving for gin and tonics to find out no tonic. Asked for beer. They\u2019d run out of that too. Events every night in function room adjacent to restaurant and bar meant that service in theses two places was very poor with all attention on those at the functions rather than those staying at the hotel. Also meant dinner was very loud and non-relaxing. Went to the bar later that evening. Again no tonic and waiter, after taking our order, asked three other people what they wanted whilst half fulfilling our order. Think most of the drinks had gone to the functions Following night, dinner at the restaurant, another event in the function room and again poor service with numerous forgotten or wrong courses for certain people in our party. Little in the way of compensation for the mess up. Again sour faced staff. Note that others have commented on the service and attitude of the staff. Seriously needs to improve. In the competitive area of Wimbledon. This is a very poor show!
